the writing on my keys is fading off and its starting to annoy me a lot

looking at getting another keyboard but what something fairly decent

any ideas?

Got basic Logitech at the moment, nothing fancy

You want a gaming or work focused kb? Budget, features etc? Wireless/wired? Macro keys, LED displays, backlighting - what's important?

Have a look at the Razer Arctosa and Logitech Wave keyboards.

My friend has the Razer Arctosa keyboard, which has the same feeling as a laptop keyboard.
I have both the cordless and corded versions of the Logitech Wave keyboard. The only thing that I have against the Logitech Wave keyboard is that it take a while to get used to, since its keys are positioned slightly different from normal keyboard layouts, like the Arctosa for instance.

Since I'm doing software development, I had to get a decent keyboard, which is why I went for the Logitech Wave, and I'm very pleased with it.

It would be nice to know what you're going to use the keyboard for, because there are a few keyboards which are more gaming oriented (with backlighting & macro keys, etc).

more gaming focused tbh. I think about R800 is the max I wanna spend, but then it needs to be something that is gonna last we a while. You know, something solid without all the gimmicks lol

having said that, some individual LED lighting would be nice. Doesnt need to have one of those built in LDC displays... and it MUST be wired, wireless sucks a$$

a keyboard with keys in a slightly different spot would drive me totally insane... thats a no-no for me

looking at these Razor keyboards and they look damn nice.

only thing about this one it doesnt have a headphone + mic jack on the actual keyboard. Only the ultimate has it

got a pretty decent review

I'm absolutely LOVING my Logitech G510 Gaming Keyboard. It's R1200, so definetly on the Pricy side, but sheeshkababs, the LCD thingies n backlight - the feel, the response - unmatched IMHO

If you really don't want an LCD on it I would suggest the Logitech G110 instead of the G510, which you should be able to get for R600-700 (wild guess)

Its basically the same except for the LCD and it has audio ports on the back instead of USB.

A friend of mine has one for a while now, it's still working great and he is NOT gentle on his stuff. I myself am still very happy with my G510 as well

Not sure about the Black Window, but the Lycosa also looks nice. BTW I have a Logitech G110 and quite like it.

does ANYONE have any experience with the Razor Black Widow (normal or ultimate) ???

I have a couple of compaq keyboards built shortly after 1995 all in perfect working order on my home pc's :)

Work I just buy Microsoft.

Personally don't like spending to much on keyboards but just my own opinion, Stick with Microsoft and you have a reliable, cheapish, ergonomic kb.

LOL, My 1995 Compaq Keyboards have character and certainly no n00b would own one. (as an added bonus they have a metal backing and very long cables, you would be able to use it to correct cheaters or as self defence without an issue, weigh about 3.5kg's each).

My one the left CTRL key has fine eggshell cracks in the plastic (and a slight indentation in the centre of the ctrl button) but none of them have letters worn out :)

I could always put some korny 1337 stickers on it or some fireball stickers to make it go faster :p
