Nice and to the point. Wish the main man himself would just listen.

I don't think so...If the people nominate him that means as a comrade he must heed the call of duty. It's not up to him but the people can decide and seal his fate...No one in the ANC is without controversy at the moment. Zuma should be around to serve as a thorn in the side of those with presidential aspirations. They need to convince people that they are beyond reproach by showing strong leadership. Playing at Zuma's misfortunes is cheap...at some point Zuma will be gone probably to jail and then what...?

Then SA will be in a much better place.

Agreed, but you wanna know what's funny? Zuma is not in charge of what is happening with his campaining/not campaining. My question though is why are ANCYL, Cosatu so against people declaring their availability to stand for elections?
Zuma will be the next president.![]()
He is still the deputy president of the ANC, and the people will vote him in.![]()
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that exactly how it is here in South Africa? The South African people do not vote for a president, they vote for a party...I suppose all of this is justified in the ANCYL's eyes because "ANC leaders don't campain" rather they "Get called up for duty".
Pathetic.
You're forgetting that the people don't vote for a president in South Africa. That is all up to the regional branches of the ANC. Which is a shame if you ask me, because everyone knows how corrupt they are. They only think of their pockets. So ultimnately, the fact that this so called succession race will be determined behind close doors through underhand dealings and threats to individuals (If you don't vote for Zuma, you lose your overcompensated job). It's already started in KZN. Reports of smear campaigns, etc etc.

Would you prefer something like the US-style primary system?
As a matter of fact i would. That would mean that the people can judge the individual based on his actions and utterances. Currently the ANC even denies that there is a succession race going on, so the people don't have a clue who they want, or who's in the running. Whoever the ANC branches back, is gonna be our president.
It does seem like a better option, especially in a situation like here where the ANC president is the de facto SA president.
Maybe there should be a restriction on that: maybe one like "The ANC president can not be the country's president"
