The flaw in the argument when it comes to Time in the markets

"We keep on hearing "Time" is the big secret to the markets, through famous sayings like "its not about timing the markets but TIME-IN the markets". Maybe its time to question the truth of this and why its said in the first place."

How about you copy and paste so we don't have to create an account on some random webpage.

The f##k?

Why would you post a link to an article that we need to register to be able to view?

Quote it or GTFO.

Can't read the blog post but trying to time the market is futile. They don't ring a bell at the top or the bottom.

The post is for all the members here that subscribe to the forum or for any new readers
that find the topic interesting and wish to subscribe.

To register is free, if you find it interesting then subscribe, if you dont simply dont read it.

Sorry for posting on topics that took me years to learn and then simply giving it away for free,
really my heart bleeds for your cause to receive everything on demand.

You might not be able to predict and exact top or bottom but those who believe in "buy and hold"
are either lazy, misinformed or uneducated.

Sounds like a cheap attempt to harvest email addresses.

How else do you build a community?
What community has no email addresses, no other form of contact,
and still allows a group of people to share ideas.

Im open to suggestion.

Yeah, that logic sounds right.

BTW, on this forum, many of us "give away" (read: help) years of acquired knowledge to others freely. We learn from each other and try to contribute to help the community as a whole to become more knowledgeable. And as far as I know we do for free.

Essentially what you're doing is spamming the forums, which is against the rules.

You mean on this forum that you had to register...for free?

Like I said if theres any other way to build a community, considering
nothing like this community exists anywhere in SA then let me know.

Im really open to suggestion here.

You can view this forum without having to register. Not sure if you know that or not.

If you want to contribute then you have to register (obviously), but anyone can view this forum freely.

Free to view. If you want to contribute, then register. It works quite well here, not sure why it wouldn't work for you.

EDIT: Also there's several communities like this in SA, not sure why you think they don't exist.

There are no other other communities of algorithmic system traders in SA that I know of...
maybe I just havent seen the advertisements yet.

I was posed the question this week of making everything open to view...Im just wondering how does that really work?
How does a club benefit making everything free and open? Especially when it has costs to cover.
So how is that model sustainable? For example which magazine publishes everything for free and is still sustainable?

Timing the market is for traders, time in the market is for investors.

EDIT: and pay MyBB to advertise your club or whatever, since it has these costs, one of them will be advertising costs.

Were you planning on selling our emails addresses?

Absolutely not!
But the only way I can see of covering costs is to add advertising on the site,
how do I get advertising if I cant tell them how many people view the site?

Rubbish...even Buffet knows when its time to sell. He prefers not having to sell however he has
sold more share more times in his life than I ever will.

To put this in real terms if yesterday people were buying cans of coke for R10 an investor would say thats fair value,
then people start buying it for R 20, R30, R 50...at some point an investor will know that its time to sell.

Ask those who believe resources can only go up, that was the buzz word in 2004-2007...
approx 10 years later it is only "obvious" now that you shouldnt have invested in those times.
