Time lapse settings?

I am thinking of doing a time lapse of a sunrise.... What should the intervals between the pictures be? and over how long should i do it?

Nice - I've always wanted to do one of these but I was a bit too concerned about the impact it would have on my shutter count.

my interval was 20seconds... tried not to make the shutter work overtime
