On a 2 meg uncapped mweb line.... This after being "upgraded" to the two meg line , guess speed does kill.. Anyways looking to move on after 4 years with mweb, trying telling a 7 year old and a 5 year old that they cant play astro garden or pet rescue, because of bandwidth...

I am not sure about AH or OW , I used to have the 1 meg R199 deal from mweb with the adsl rental at R339, not that telkom have boosted me to two meg i dont know which one to take. AH to be honest is going to cost more , 2 meg at R497, granted that is for the buisness one , from which i have read seems to be the better of the two. R397 for the normal 2 meg.

OW 2Mbps Gamers King (Downloaders Bling!) Uncapped R 226.00 . Although they dont do the adsl line rental part. So the difference between the two is R27 and R58 . Not wanting to waste money and have a huge ball drag , which is the better , yes it is all depends on the user. Mine is lots of gaming and gaming updates and lots of youtube and other video sites . With some p2p traffic. None of the other ISP's seem to have been covered in glory.

If there are downloads to be done it will only be after 17h00 , mainly browsing during the day and youtube , gaming and downloads at night. I really dont need video streaming to suffer, as that is how i watch sport, not through DSTV/SS . ;) . I would also hate to pay and then find out that the service i took is crappy, or not to my needs. My exchange goes to a maximum of 2 meg :

Maximum speed available in your area 1 Mbps
Your Current Service speed 2 Mbps

Not sure how that is possible... So going 4 meg , will not only cost too much but the exchange cant handle it, this is my problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Kabal, the reason that you are getting these slow speeds is due to your account being throttled.

Perhaps you can consider upgrading to a 2Mb premium all inclusive account @ R509.

I can confirm that you adsl line has indeed been upgraded to 2Mb by telkom
 
As someone who had Gamers king, its not too bad, but I would say pay the extra 50 bucks and get Afrihost business and know it will function as should 99% of the time.
 
Hi mweb guy.

I know I am throttled , this is the first time in 4 years this has happened , and sadly to say it could not have come at a worse time. I am doing a lot of reasearch on stuff on youtube . I have just looked at my useage for Feb 2014. The most i used was 8 gig a day , the majority of this was games, both being downloaded and updates, on 4 pc's. The least i have used was less than a gig. On average i used 4.3 gig a day , which hardly seems as abusive to me .

When i contacted mweb about the speed upgrades the person i spoke to informed me that to get the same amount of data that I was currently getting on my 1 meg uncapped i would have to go to a 4 meg uncapped account. So the free speed ungrade would have cost me an extra R110 a month, but besides that my line cant do 4megs. Not sure why I must do R509 per month when openweb offer a gaming king service for R229 i think it is on a two meg line....

With what seems to be an uncapped service.. Without being throttled.... I fail to see the logic in paying almost double for something that is going to be worse...

gdiza , i will be moving on from mweb after promoting them for four years, there have been months where i have done far more data than what i have done this month and nothing was said or done , never got any warnings nothing. 4.3 gig a day abuse ? Have a look at BF4 , World of tanks, WOW and steam , espcially TF2 and multiply that by 4 pc's . Antivirus updates x 4 , sorry mut mweb no longer meets my needs.

Besides going according to price they are not the cheapest anymore , not by a long shot.

The R100 diff between home and business uncapped in inclusive will be the difference between you being on this forum regularly unhappy about shaping and not. This I am sure of. If you willing to give up day time speeds and can't see the point in paying for business uncapped, I would go for Openwebs uncapped packages over afrihost's home package.

The MWEB 2Meg Premium only throttles at 200gigs.

Should be perfect for you.

Unfortunately you get what you pay for when it comes to uncapped accounts. Most of those other accounts you mentioned suffer from bad shaping.

Very good move. I was throttled not once but twice or maybe three times and it was the worst experience I have ever had, I am throttled just because Mweb thinks I'm an abuser and going to bring the network down. Such bad policies in place with Mweb, they were good but I don't know so much about now. Now they just being greedy and taking money and not delivering a "Free the web" Internet experience. Such Bull$hit really

But you pay a hell of a lot to Mweb so you paying more for nothing :D Throttling is a no no I feel. I agree with you on Mweb's shaping In regard to premium packages, its not so severe but I can't recommend them as for that Throttling policy in place.
 
Afrihost Home doesn't shape the Videos,and my game updates seem to go max speed anytime. Give it a try with a referral link and it's half off
