Time to replace my 8800GTX

just beware of rebeltech's high shipping costs - i wanted to order from there and was looking at close to R200 for my shipping. It's still a great site though.

I think Sapphire has a pretty good warranty, at least 2 years, sometimes 3.

Well this is odd.

I took out my 8800GTX, re-seated it, no display but the PC still boots into win7.

ie: no change since last night.

Tried another LCD screen and DVI cable - same story.
Used a DVI->DSUB adapter and I get signal,

but: massive corruption in the BIOS post screen, but not in Windows or playback of a video, but the nVidia driver fails to init properly at all, and sometimes the machine won't post.

So I'm guessing part of the video ram is fubar.

I logged a ticket with XFX, maybe their lifetime warranty will cover my card but I don't think I registered my card soon enough (year ago or so) but who knows.

If you cant wait, 5850 all the way. Otherwise 5870. DX11, best buy for buck atm.

Yep, I'm leaning towards the 5850, I'm just waiting for my other PCI-E card (7300GS or summin) to get to me so I at least have a working system, then I don't mind waiting a little while.

Might wait for more reviews on the 5850.
