Can someone else please check this for me: I keep on getting a timeout on www.deviantart.com. Other sites seem to work fine, but when I try to go onto dA, it times out. I get a reply when I ping www.deviantart.com though.

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! I need my dA fix!

Lemme know?

Thanks guys!

Yeah I cannot get to the home of Tony Leon either...however I'd be more surprised if I actually could...

TheYak, just as a matter of interest, what MTU have you got?

Oh dear. Wonder if something is up (or down?) with their servers. I need to find someone with a different connectin to iBurst to check it out...

IC, my MTU is set at 1352 - the value I got from Thato at WBS. Shoudl it be something else?

You should be alright with 1352, I was asking bcos I had to setup SWE2.0 again (HDD went kablooey) & SWE2 shows ppp0 has MTU:1432. I don't feel like changing it either - despite what the WBS despot(s) say(s)...

Yep, the site is down... asked a friend in the 'States as well. Thanks for your help guys! :)

*takes anti-depressant tablets for lack of dA* :D

oh my word... THIS HAS NOTHIGN TO DO WITH MTU
could you guys get off the MTU bandwagon for 2 minutes?

you can ping it because the host is up, so the problem is either the box is down and you're pinging a router or the box is having problems or has services down, so lets see
normal SYN scan of the host reveals it may be down, but then if we ping probe every TCP port we see this

Port State Service
80/tcp open http
443/tcp open https
3900/tcp open udt_os

so the problem is THIER problem, nothing to do with iburst and seems to be network configuration issues as both http and https are having problems with initiating TCP connects

Slimothy, please read my post [again] - I never said it was MTU, you just made an assumption that I said it was MTU.

cuz i keep seeing it and hearing about it from people who dont know what significance it has on anything (not talking about you) if i see the word MTU once more i'm killing myself and i'm taking whoever said it with me

LOL :D - hopefully you'd be taking a bunch of HelpdeskPersons down, the latest is that WBS have a recommended RWIN value of 17136 (decimal :)) that is now recommended for all iBursters. The problem is that RWIN is best calculated according to MSS & a stable latency - now my latency jumps all over the place between one ping & the next (yes it actually does Daveogg - believe me or go look at the pings I posted in the Communication thread ;)).

So, how can WBS suddenly invent a magical RWIN value for every iBurster...?
