Tips to Boost your eBucks

Bundled platinum pricing is meant to exempt you from the eBucks monthly charge.

Also if they start charging those of us that paid an annual fee within the last 11 months, then a pro rata refund is owed to us.

edit: I see they owe me this eBucks refund too, in my case R200 / 12 * 5.

No point in staying on Fee Saver any longer. The 'privilege' is costing me about R24 extra per month vs Bundled.

I agree with you 100%. I think the question is, how much do you pay in fees. If the fees are more than the bundled option, then the fee saver is a good option

This should balance out i think. Only challenges comes as per Sinbad above- if i want to buy a 10k item - which a gas stove will actually save some electricity (and reduce my rewards on prepaid power :/) - eish choices choices

Every now and then I do a big grocery voucher shop at makro for things like washing powder, cleaning stuff etc. Make a nice dent in the credit card spend that month and for the next few months too. Sure I don't get my 15% back from checkers while doing this, but I get it 100% free which is even better.
The stove was something I decided to save up for over time - will be doing this in future when there's something I want which is nice to have but I don't need. Little self-spoiling, if you will. Right now my thinking is towards a nice DSLR for my wife for christmas, but I think this month's ebucks will go to a bulk shop. 5 months' saving should make a nice dent in the cost of the camera by december.

My intention with the stove was actually not to save money, I'm sure the gas will cost much the same as the electricity, but more to reduce my peak electricity usage to make going off-grid more attainable (and to enable cooking during load shedding). I won't miss the rewards not earned on electricity for cooking, I consider those a small price to pay ;)

Sinbad, you not the only one. I also saved a couple of months and bouth Tafelberg Furnisher vouchers while they were still on 40% discount for a very nice lounge suite. Definitely worth IMHO.

Life is so f expensive. Ebucks is a way to indirectly build wealth as its a bonus from playing the game... And it's not difficult.
I want to replace my 15yr old washing machine with a new one that is more energy efficient. The cash I would have spent on the machine - will be going into an investment. So ebucks FTW!

Someone did a calc on this comparison and it depends on what else you would do with the 15k sitting in your cheque account.

I don't have that post on hand right now but with the latest rule changes, it effectively made fee saver pointless.

So they very cleverly keep the fee saver guys happy by not taking anything away, but if you do the math they have nullified any benefit from fee saver as soon as you have a secondary credit card or two linked to your account .

I see what you are saying.

The positive thing is, exiting fee saver clients only have to upper the R9k to 15k. New clients have to put R50k away in their cheque account, and that is madness.

The past ebucks rules also said, if you have R15k in your cheque account, you get eB points. So for me nothing has changed in that area.

One thing that I might consider in the few months, moving up from platinum to private (Private clients do not pay for any share investing accounts.) That is one good point to move up. So I will see how my share accounts grow with time. If the fees there pass my banking fees (Then the fee saver isn't a good option any more)

Speaking under correction you get 1000 points for a 15k balance, however you also get 1000 points for being on the bundled pricing option, so rather go with the bundled option and not be required to maintain the 15k balance for the fee saver rebate.

And yes, the 50k balance is even more pointless...

Question, when they calculate your points on the 8th this month, will it be on the old rules or the new rules?

This whole ebucks thing sounds like a game haha. Like different levels and stuff.

So you get ebucks back for things, and where does one spend them?

I use mine for Makro vouchers, do I get maybe R1500 worth of a month. So basically my bank kind of pays me R1300 of vouchers to bank with them (less the R200 fee, which you pay anyway)

But there are other things you can use them for

Interesting, and say for example, someone earns R50,000 a month vs someone who earns R30,000 a month, will the person who earns 50k earn more ebucks compared to the 30k person?

Depends entirely on their banking habits. I earn less than a lot of forumite, but probably earn more ebucks because I play the game relatively well.

Also, someone earning R30000 might be on a different account from the R50000. Different accounts have different rules. Pick the right account that will benefit you most is the key

And which accounts in your opinion are the best.
