Tips to Boost your eBucks

And which accounts in your opinion are the best.

Depends on how much you earn and your habits. There is no hard and fast answer. For me platinum is as far as I am willing to go, but might be better off on gold.

The thing to always keep in mind is if the game starts playing you....then maybe it's time to quit playing. It's getting to that stage for many people after the recent changes...it was a good few years

I see. Did you get offered to become a Private Client for R300 per month?

Yes. I rejected the offer. It was not worthwhile for me as my monthly spends vary dramatically from month to month and would not be on level 5 every month.

With level 5 I get a fnb uncapped ADSL account for free

I see. Yes that Private Clients thing from FNB seemed like quite a status ploy from them so they could milk some people some more.

Speaking under correction you get 1000 points for a 15k balance, however you also get 1000 points for being on the bundled pricing option, so rather go with the bundled option and not be required to maintain the 15k balance for the fee saver rebate.

And yes, the 50k balance is even more pointless...

In my case, my banking fees are double the cost of the bundle pricing option. So it is worth while having that 15K in my cheque account and not paying banking fees.

I am also on the old fee saver pricing option where I will need a minimum balance of R15000 in my Platinum Cheque Account from 1 July to qualify for a rebate of my fees.

FEE SAVER:
This means the monthly fees and opportunity cost of the R15k minimum balance is as follows:
- Credit Card Monthly Account Fee: R58.00
- Credit Facility Service Fee: R11.00
- Additional Card Fee: R14.50
- Credit Card Monthly Rewards Fee: R16.50
- Opportunity cost of R15k min balance: R114 (@9.5% p.a.)
- Total Fees: R214

BUNDLED:
This should be compared to the R199 bundled pricing option which includes cheque and credit card fees and all the fees listed above.

In terms of eBucks rewards the bundled pricing option will earn me 1000 eBucks points, but I will lose 1000 points since I will no longer hold a minimum monthly balance of R15k in my account.

If I didn't miss anything it seems there is not really an advantage to stay on the old fee saver pricing option.

I got an email from FNB on the weekend saying that i will load points as they do not have my Home Cover policy with them.
I did NOT go with FNB's insurance company as I use my own broker... so i'm now getting them a 1 pager from my broker to send to them.

But - just make sure you have all of your papers in order, or you may lose the points for the Home Loan.

I got something similar ... but mine says mine is out of date.

Been thinking about this for a while actually. Only reason I am staying on Platinum is, if I downgrade I lose the fee saver option. Now the option is not that viable anymore, it might make sense to downgrade. I see no benefit in having platinum to be honest.

Looks like FNB is looking for a new manager for their loyalty programmes.

This came up on my LinkedIn profile today.

Copy/paste from your post in the other thread? :) I think add to that the eBucks fee of R16.50 per month when on fee saver and not on bundled option?

I'd like to get RID of my EURO's and switch them for AUD (for one because of the new Global account amounts for eBucks and two to avoid a sharp drop in the EURO due to Greece!). My problem is I can't see a way to switch to another currency without first converting to ZAR.

However according to FNB's blurb here (https://www.fnb.co.za/travel-products/global-acc.html) it's possible to convert to another currency:

"Convert from a foreign currency into Rand or other Global Account currencies "

Any idea how? I'd not like to convert to ZAR, take a hit and then have to convert to another currency and take another hit.

Thanks,

Same here. If I get enough points on the new rules I'm closing the Euro account. No interest and they charge you lots for every transfer.

can see my eBucks for JUN2015 via Transaction History, but all other info is buggered.
