Spend R3 000 or more on your FNB Private Clients Credit Card in a calendar month (excl. EFTs and transfers) 3000 . I received 1500 points, so it's not a case of all or nothing.

No, it's not all or nothing

Ah. She confirmed R50,000+ or something for the full 3000 points. Think between R10,000-R20,000 is 1500 points

So yesterday I register for the free uncapped account with FNB Connect. Thought it was a 4mb but managed to get a 6mb account (although I only have a 4mb line).

Switched over to it last night. Managed to stream (Showmax and Kodi) just fine, can't really say I noticed any difference between this account and my MWEB 4mb uncapped account. Doing a speedtest I did notice the ping on the new account was very erratic and worse than the MWEB account.

Going to run on this new account for a while and see how it performs. I don't do torrents or P2P so maybe this works for me.

I use the free account as a backup to my main Telkom account. It does come in handy. P2P and NZBs are erratic with full speed sometimes and other times completely dead. Ping is bad when compared to Telkom.

I think they improved quite a bit after taking up the double-ipc deal.

Its awesome! Snapscan.co.za

You load your credit card into it... then you have 2 options...

1) "old" merchants, where you snap the block widget thingie and then put in how much you need to paay... and hit PAY.
or
2) "new" merchants that have beacons, where while you are in the store it will pick up the merchant and then you put in how much and hit PAY.

The merchant gets notification of the amount paid to them... and you are done. What is nice - is you don't hand over your credit card so i think there is less change of something doing something silly. And - its quick.

My favourite is Zapper... which is similar to the above (option 1), however the picture thingie whatsit is on the tillslip and its linked to that particular transaction. You then use the app to take a pic of it and you alter the tip% and hit Pay... and its all done. I find this much nicer than using my card to pay for the meal and having to deal with a waitron + card machine.

How does the payment work? Do you have to enter your credit/debit card details on the app and pay via the app?
What is in it for Zapper? Do they take a cut/commission?

Snapscan is a bit more secure. It asks for a pin per transaction. Zapper doesn't as far as I can see

I also got an ebucks takealot/netflorist voucher email just now like others have mentioned days ago.

In that email:
Just by swiping your Platinum Credit Card you can double your eBucks on online and international shopping!

Is this an excited reminder about the normal rule of earning on credit card and on partner or do they mean we now earn 8% instead of 4%? That really helps you get to the online spend limit fast, but hey. Actually wait, swipe your card online?

I think they improved quite a bit after taking up the double-ipc deal.

When was that? Maybe I should try it out again.

Although at this point using Crystal Web I can pay via Snapscan which pushes me over the R1000 online spend a month quite easily.

You add your Credit Card to the App.

Then you scan a QR code with the camera when you want to pay and you enter the PIN you setup previously to confirm the transaction.

I believe they make their money through charging the vendors but it's a lot less than the conventional card machines and therefore you see it in a lot of the smaller places and flea markets and such as the cost of entry is quite low and it's completely mobile.

Yes. Both are online transactions. So it doubles up your normal swipe earnings.

Just got another R150 voucher for Takealot.

This one from EBucks themselves. Previous one from FNB.

Are you guys (who have been getting vouchers) all on Platinum and above?
Anyone know what's the criteria for getting the voucher?

I'm on PC. Nothing for me either. Banking for less than a year with them.. So maybe that's it.
