Yeah I'm sure if you found the right person they could cancel it for you as I also know if new sign ups without a debit order.

But when you have one already it's a pain.

But on Gold you need 3 debit orders, so I leave the Telkom debit order active and pay 90% via easypay.
I do lose a few eBucks cos the entire bill isn't counted as online spend, but i score the RL points for 3 debit orders

Aah yes there is that too.

Have Vodacom and Old Mutual sorted on that front at least.

Getting the 3 debit orders are super easy, its getting rid of them that aint.

Telkom I can pay via easypay, so no point in having a debit order for that forced on me.

Debit orders:
- home loan
- vehicle finance
- virgin active <-- used to have it on CC, but so many issues they removed that option
- life insurance
- armed response

So even when the debt stuff fall away (some end of this year) I still have more than enough debit orders.

Still waiting for my shopping eBucks to be awarded for this month? Fuel and the rest are already reflecting.

I buy with my CC and never get charged interest.
I have a petrol card too (because of the free AA benefit and the Drive me home service), and when I used to use that to put in fuel I was charged either a fee or interest, I can't remember.
I queried this stuff with my banker, and they insisted the cheapest way to buy fuel was with a petrol card. I gave up with the email chain when I tested it. And my CC was cheaper ;-)

You don't want to use your Cheque card for fuel, as you want your spend to be on your CC for points. Something like 100% of swipes on your CC - this rule is on the how to earn points page I think.
I'm on PW, so I'm not sure if the rules are the same. But they must be pretty similar...

Very helpful insight! Thanks so much.

Can Telkom Mobile be paid via easypay too?

I am unsure if Telkom Mobile statements come with an easypay number but check your statement. If it does then you can pay via easypay but bare in mind there is a cut off time that money should be in Telkom accounts. Example Cell by the 20 if money isn't in their account they still run the debit order.

Mine is a debit order as well, as you can't cancel it.

So when the 1st comes I log into the website and go pay them while doing my other bills.

Then the debit order never happens in the following month.

****

Actually I lie. I pay them when the invoice gets emailed which is around the 5th or so.

For you guys who wants to move your Telkom (ADSL) from debit order to manual/cash payments, if you log into the Telkom site, there is a setting what you can change to say you want to do cash payments. It is as easy as that. So when the statements comes, just use easy pay from there onwards.
