Tips to Boost your eBucks

normally not too much worried about this, but does someone have a rough timeline on how the changes are implemented?

eg :

new changes effective 1 July.
then i adjust my spend habits from 1 july onwards?
and get assigned a new rewards level 1 August, and rewards calculated on the July spend?

Are the changes more onerous? Does it become harder to stay on a high RL and more difficult to earn ebucks?

So if I pay my Telkom account via Easypay online will the debit order that usually happens not happen for that month?

I used to pay a month in advance to avoid the debit order on our old line. When my invoice came it would always be an opening balance in credit equal to or greater than the current month owing.

With my new line they never insisted on a debit order, so no need to do that any longer.

Generally speaking, yes, more onerous. Every year they shift the goal posts slightly and cap the earn in different ways.

Though the one positive move last year (or was it 1 July 2014?) was them changing to a monthly reward level system as opposed to rolling 12 month cycle.

Where do you find the Telkom easypay number? My accounts don't have any easypay details, just some crazy long Telkom account number
Download your printable invoice from the Telkom site.
At the bottom of the page (in the footer) there's a long number enclosed within <<< and >>> symbols
That's your EasyPay number

Yup. Go look at the changes from last year. You can probably expect more of the same.

If it gets harder this year, I'm just going to give it up.

It's a schlep to go to Checkers (I have a PnP across the road from me) and I do not like Checkers at all.

I haven't received back a lot anyway so changing to Discovery's reward system would suit me just fine (also get 25% back on fuel).

My bill doesn't have any numbers in the footer?
Sorry :( ... there ends the extent of my expertise on the matter.
You could call them... maybe they take their best call center agents and put them in the "we want your money" department.
The ADSL support agents tend to be completely useless.

Yes, it's for my LTE package at home. Crazy how a company can have two totally different payment regimes.

ADSL and landline are month to month which you can pay with your credit card /easy pay or debit order but all mobile contracts are 24 months and only debit order is accepted

I applied online for overdraft facility on my cheque card - seems pretty straight forward. The revolving loan application throws me out after the first step - just says application denied due to affordability issues. Oh well, will just transfer sufficient funds from my cheque account to the savings pocket and back again the next day for the 2000 eBucks points. Hope it works. Should reach RL4 this month (my first month on eBucks) and from next month should get RL5, with points for debit orders and FNB investment account kicking in.

What are discoveries caps like? As in the limit for things like fuel etc. I remember when they moved to the 20% cap - prior to discovery insure. And the most I got back in a month for health food and discovery card spend was 1500-2000.

From switching to ebucks I consistently get 3500 to 4300 rand value of makro vouchers every month. This wouldn't be possible with discovery card.

I do also get the healthy food back from ww so that adds to the rewards each month too.

So it's all about playing the game and what works for me. May not work for someone else...

Healthy food is 25% back at PnP or Woolies, which ever you decide.

Fuel WITH Insure is 25% or 50% depending on your package up to max R400 on the 25% option and R800 on the 50% option.

I never get more than a few hundred rand from eBucks...you have to spend more to earn more and I don't see the point in that.

At the risk of being argumentative... You are spending the money anyways. Eg. Good, water lights etc. so why not get something back? Some of us spend more than others which is why we get more in return..

Anyways. I do v little mileage. But my fuel bill for me and the Mrs is more than 800/ month. So discovery doesn't sound like it would do very much for me...

will first check how rules change in JUL16.

Has anybody made the switch from Private Client to Private Wealth?
If YES, was it a trouble free 'migration'?

cheers

Usually no issue with upgrades.

I understand that, but to get RL 5 is just too much effort on Platinum as I opened my account less than 18months ago so I don't get any of the points on how long I've been with FNB.

My biggest issue is Checkers...I HATE Checkers...They are a sub par super market and the smells in that place is just nauseating. ANd then there's the service...the people who work there act like they are doing me a massive favour.

If eBucks was with PnP or Spar even, I would be very happy to go through the efforts.

Wow that's crazy. I stopped shopping at PnP due to countless run ins with concompetence. Even got called in by the store manager to discuss my formal complaint. Must say they have turned around in a good way in the last 2 yrs since then. The checkers that I go to - 3 of them... Have found te staff to be amazing. So I guess it's luck of the draw as to the areas you live in. I do buy my fresh stuff at ww, spar or pnp when I can't find suitable items at checkers. And this also helps to balance the checkers shopping to be 20% of my spend, and then 20% on groceries at other supermarkets - a perk of being PW.

But with your situation id probably commit to the discovery card and vitality...also with discovery launching a bank in the not too distant future it would probably make sense!
