How did you get that line item "SMART DEVICE" 5000eb? What is that?

Previous rl4 earn avg 8000eb
Current rl5 earn 11000eb

100 percent back on smart devices on private clients reward 5 to a max of R500

much easier to hit 5 on new rules .
i am starting to see past my own disappointment regarding the new rules and maybe they did actually notice that more people are using credit cards as their primary "swiper" ... in which case climbing the RL ladder might indeed be easier for alot of people now... just not me (on my Gold Cheque account with no credit card) :(
According to my calc, in order for me to get the same ebucks as i did on old rules i will need to be on RL4 ... I need to find a path to RL4

I don't get the FNB Connect discount yet. When I log in at fnbconnect they say I get 0% based on my cheque account, so I hope this is something that just needs to be updated to use the new singular reward level. Or is there some small print for this?

Prev RL5 on Platinum: Avg Ebucks Earn eB 15,000
Curr RL3 on Private: Oct 2014 Earn eB 8,163

I'll be on RL5 on Private in a month or two and with this past month's spend at RL5, I would've earned eB22,866

I actually have a Classic credit card....think this is the cheapest one - R25pm

If you do the math it might be an viable option for you.

i thought eBucks it only applies to Gold-level credit cards?
And anyway ... after working through [-]some[/-] lots of permutations, I can actually reach RL5 without a credit card by paying for stuff online and opening an investment account.

My previous questions still stands unanswered... Can I use my cheque card to pay for my Telkom bill (...or City of Joburg bill)?
And will this count as online shopping?

Amazingly, am still on L5, but my earn rate has dropped from 15000 Ebucks to 9500 Ebucks. Translates to about R1600 worth of vouchers but guarantee cannot maintain this month to month

Well that is interesting...then there is no reason to be on platinum, unless you hit the ebucks earn cap on gold.

Premier banking? If they take that away then there is no reason to be on platinum instead of gold.

I don't use the premier banking that much...actually I need to try and think how many times I have used it since being on platinum for the last 2 years...

I used to use my card to pay my easypay accounts at checkers money market counter. Telkom, vodacom, and something else, I forget now. Stopped using card a lot cos with cash, it charges less for atm deposits.

If I get enough tips from this thread, I might reconsider.

Haven't used it that much either, but when I had my credit card swallowed at the ATM dealing with them I had my new card delivered at my office two days later. Paying extra for that day that you might need to use them and not having to go to a branch for anything really - worth it for me.

Apologies ... what i meant to say was:
