Think I need to do my will through FNB to net the required 1000 points I need for L5, at least until next year when they change / restrict the rules more, and in hopes I don't kick the bucket till then and owe them 3% of estate!

Hope everyone can share their current reward level and eBucks earned with previous reward level and eBucks earned
Current -5,eBucks earned-9967
Before-5,avg eBucks earned -10600

Previous, Lv3, ~14,000 points. Earn around 300 bucks worth
Current, Lv3, 14,000 points, but will be 17,500 once they correct their systems. Should be closer to 500 on lv4, and a thousand on lv5

Previous: Level 3, earned eB900
Current: Level 5, earned eB7000 (about eB4000 of that just for fuel and pre-paid electricity)

(Also got useful amounts from Takealot and Le Creuset (gifts))

I'm just really hoping there isn't a positive mistake that got me here. I'd very much like to stay here, so going to add a Global Account just to ensure there's some buffer month to month.

Previous: RL5, earned between eB8000 and eB15000 depending on the month, my spending can swing from splurging to just buying what I need.

Current: RL5, earned eB6948 from the bank, eB341 from partners, thus eB7289 in total. Spent very little last month, also changing to credit card, I am sure I am earning less. When I moved spending to cheque card on previous scheme, my earn jumped so will have to see how this works out.

I went from RL3 on private averaging about eB2500 a month.
I decided to move back to platinum and on the new rules i made it to RL5 on platinum and earned over eB7000 for the month.

Which is what I pointed out in one of my first posts on this thread ... tbe biggest change for me is that the normal swipe earn rates have dropped big time.
We can see that FNB is pushing people towards using credit cards, but even the credit card earn rate on the new rules is less than the cheque card earn rate on the old rules (my earlier post has the screenshots with the direct comparison).

TLDR:
Even if you stay at the same RL as before, everyone will earn less for normal swipes.

Current RL- 3, earn 11087
Before RL-5, earn 16214
Biggest change is earn difference on petrol, airtime, checkers.

My reward points don't make sense though. It says I' m not getting points for the following:
- Have an Overdraft Facility of R2 000 or more, a Temporary loan, a Revolving loan or a Personal loan 2000
- Have additional products i.e additional Card, Linked Petro Cards, Smart Device, Savings Pocket with Bank Your Change and a minimum of R500 2000
- Register for inContact , allow us to communicate with you and keep your contact information up to date 500

But I know that I have many of these products/services. They're also the difference between level 4 and level 5, so I'm not very impressed.

Same. Also not getting any points for having my statements emailed to me, when I know they are. I should be on level 5. I'm sure it will be sorted eventually, although I must say that downgrading to Gold has made it much easier to get to 5...

I don't understand this new system I got 21000 ebucks on my statement and its says in on level 3 when I should be on level 5
Dont confuse eBucks 'Reward points' with the actual eBucks.

Translation: There is a difference between:
a) eBucks 'Reward points' earned which determine your Reward Level
b) eBucks awarded based on your transactions made on the various spending avenues

You seem to be confusing the two based on that post of yours which i quoted above.

New rules means everyone has moved down a few levels. I moved from Level 5 to level 3, on private banking. Every year the eBucks rules become more restrictive.
Pretty soon eBucks will be just like all the other rewards programs out there. Even spending R70k on my credit card in a month only adds 2000 points.
I think it's time to say bye bye to eBucks & FNB and look at options such as Investec as the benefits have declined significantly.
Earning points to get to a high reward level has never been purely about spend amount. It's about changing your banking behaviour in a manner that favours the bank.

Being on Private Banking though means that the the hoops that need to be jumped through are much harder than if one were on Platinum or Gold. You need deep pockets for Private Banking and obviously the desire to jump through their eBucks Reward hoops.

Happy surprise update. Average spend jumped up to the 4000 point bracket, so once the arrears bonus kicks in I'll be up to lv5. Yay

It's worth it.

Will get even better when my cell c contract runs out and I switch to prepaid.

link your petrol card to your credit card and have the add on's that they have (one account, savings acc etc). I buy all local flights using ebucks and it works out that i get almost 2 tanks of fuel a month for the extra effort.
