Tips to Boost your eBucks

I'm still on level 2, mainly because I don't have a credit card. Should probably just get one that will push me up to RL3.
Have also considered a smart device but I don't have the need for one right now.
Are you paying R50 (or any amount) of your Telkom bill online? (Click here)
Are you using Cash @ Till rather than an ATM?

I got my Fuel rewards today but reward level has not yet updated.

Sent my banker a message about lack of notification about interest charges etc - not even an inContact message - resulting in me going over my limit by R30, costing me R2000 in value.

I've given up on my quest for RL5 cos the requirements are impractical for me personally.
RL4 requires me to do things I don't want to, so I'm giving it "the finger" as well.
RL3 will get me back a good portion of banking fees ... I guess that will have to suffice.

Damn, I should have signed up for Fee Saver :(

In the same boat, RL4/5 then I will need to alter my banking behaviour drastically and I am not willing to do that, so RL3 is where I will stay. At least I am on Fee Saver :p (btw will lose fee saver if I take their electronic device)

edit: Ebucks total was updated last night. (9 Feb)

aah ffs the 40% discount on everything ends 17th Feb?!!?!?!?!?!?!

Then it will go back to only like makro vouchers ect. I currently want to use it on Hirch or Tafelberg vouchers /sigh
I've forgotten now, what is the norm for 40% off and what is part of this promotion? Is there a definitive list on the ebucks website?

e.g. Is Kalahari normally 40% off?

In the past it was only on a select few items. there was a discount category on the ebucks shop for those. I don't remember kalahari being in that list, because I specifically used it after they started the discount promotion on everything on the shop.

Your percentage off depends on your reward level and applies to all products bought via the online eBucks store. These can include Kalahari and Makro vouchers.

If they are discontinuing it, they are discontinuing the best part of eBucks.

I sent them an email to ask which products in the eBucks Shop will still qualify for discount after 17 February 2015.

They answered the following: "Please note that all products including all vouchers qualify to get 40% discount until the 17th February."

I responded with my original query and I will provide an update as soon as I get a response.

Thanks gjmellet. I don't believe that they would totally do away with the 40% off offer. It would return to what it was before? dunno?

I think eBucks were carrying a s h i t e load of eBucks that had not been redeemed and the beancounters were throwing a hissy...

I have a question, what counts as "spend" on the gold accounts, The first points criteria is the spend range... Does spend include eft's and transfers? or is it only swiping your card at a pos terminal?
If you ask them really nicely (and then log a complaint on HelloPeter when they don't help) they will (after much frustration and repeating yourself) provide you something like this:
* Total Monthly Cheque Card Spend - Rxxx
* Total Monthly Cheque Card Fuel - Rxxx
* Total Monthly Cheque Card Checkers/Shoprite Spend - Rxxx
* Qualifying monthly Shopping cheque card spend - Rxxx
* Total Cheque card Online Shopping spend - Rxxx
(I am on Gold Cheque, no Credit Card)

Take this and compare against your detailed transaction history and you should be able to see which one's fit where. Excel (or your choice of spreadsheet software) may be necessary.

On an slightly related note, when I asked for the above yesterday, I got this response:
"Please note that our records for Gold Accounts will only be updated on the 12th February 2015. Please reply to this email on the 12th in order for us to provide you with the breakdown."

OK yeah, the up to 40% was only applicable to a handful of partners. The promotion has been running so long that the promotion seems like the norm. I suppose we could go back in this thread to see if we can pickup clues as to what it was before, if anyone is so inclined ;)

All I remember, Makro vouchers used to be the only useful thing to buy on the eBucks shop for the 40% discount. This promotion was heavenly. Just cleaned out my ebucks on tafelberg vouchers, need to buy some furniture ect.

Good luck with an informative reply. I don't know if they are purposefully obtuse or whether they just can't help it. One thing's for sure, they would not pass the Turing test.

The Turing test is a test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human.

It's been a good run, pity it has to end soon :(

@Tinuva, can you buy high thread count bedding at Tafelberg?

Good question.

I specifically want to get myself a 321 lounge suit, which is what I am currently looking at.

Not sure about the bedding, maybe, maybe not, I find Tafelberg does all kinds of furniture and household stuff, even expensive lounge suites. But I haven't seen the expensive bed/mattresses there. Like they have Sealy brand, but that to me is a entry to mid range bed. Simmons ect. I didn't see. Now I know that doesn't answer your question, because thread count is the last thing I myself look at when buying bedding and/or curtains ect.

I could care less about thread count but I think the fairer sex appreciates it :p

Wish they would put prices on their website. Seems every page you have to request a price and have them contact you!
