Tips to Boost your eBucks

I've wondered the same thing myself.

I've been sticking to credit card spend as it the fuel rewards are interwoven with credit card spend (i.e. the '20% of credit card spend' cap).

Edit: Who wants to volunteer to ask the eBucks "customer service" team?

Just read up on the eBucks website - seems like the 20% rule applies per card.

OK.. lets get back to business.

I'm considering getting a smart device to push me into RL5 this month and to keep as a bit of a safety net going forward.

1. What is the cheapest device?
2. Will it kick in automatically and give me the ebucks earned this month so come next month on th 8th or so I'd be on RL5

Thanks

EDIT: Had a look here and the lenovo tab for 99 bucks seems to be cheap AND ok.

Don't know about cheapest, I got something I wanted (got laptops, and phones and screens already) so got a PS4. Just go to online banking and add a smart device, you'll see the selection and prices then.

It was logged in the system a week after delivery.

Btw another thing that isn't obvious is that you get a Cell C sim with a smart device (even a PS4) and on RL5 you get 500 MB a month free (100 MB per RL).

The free data only applies if you are using an MTN or Vodacom sim I believe.

Didn't know that.. Would have saved me a bit

Nokia Lumia 630 at R90 ?
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 at R155
Blackberry Bold some crap at R115
Lenova A3500 tab at R99 <-- best choice probably for tablet

7.5% vs 15% for Checkers, Checkers Liqour and fuel.

Right.. so I'm averaging about 2 grand a month on fuel.

On RL4 I'll get 7.5% (R150) whereas on RL5 I'll get 15% (R300)
So just on fuel I'd be more than covering the R99 pm for the tablet... so even if I only sell it for R1500, I still win on both fronts (covering my monthly expenses as well as getting a R1.5k cashflow injection)?

Are my maths correct?

You guys noticed on some places like Gumtree, people sell the FNB Smart Devices for the same price they buy it from FNB Smart Devices? Usually these items are even un-opened. So literally they just get the smart device, then sell it immediately.

Kinda like having a loan without interest then. And yes, I know that can't be 100% legal.

Think so ...

You'll be scoring (((R300 - R150) - R99) * 24) + R1500 = R2724

And remember you also get a free Cell C data sim with 500 MB a month worth from around R40-R80 depending on package, let's call it R50, so that's another R1200.

E.g. you can't sell your car while you're still paying for it. Not sure it's the same in this case though.

The car would be owned by the bank and used as surety in case of default. With a smarty device, the bank is simply borrowing you money to buy the device.

Yea.. plus additional EBs from checkers and checkers liquor *hic*

plus the free FNB connect adsl account.

Cool.. you've convinced me... even if I can't sell the device :)
