Tips to Boost your eBucks

So buying electricity on the fnb site gets you 15% (RL5) back in ebucks. Is there any benefit in using your credit card account to do this instead of your cheque account? I'd imagine not as your credit card would attract interest on that transaction right?

Anybody know what happened to the discounts? Almost everything (and all the vouchers IIRC?) used to be discounted if you paid entirely with eBucks... Now only a handful of things are discounted it seems.

EDIT: Nevermind, I read back a few pages

In the past I would do this to boost my ccard spend in order to increase my limit of 20% of ccard spend on fuel purchases. With the fuel cost having plummeted, I don't really have to do this any longer.
Platinum rules excerpt:
Fuel spend limits and rules
Your maximum qualifying fuel spend is capped at 20% of your qualifying FNB Platinum Card/s spend for the month, with the maximum amount you can earn on fuel capped at eB6 500 per month.

This doesn't apply to electricity as the cap is a flat eB1500 limit (Platinum rules) on eB paid out for electricity. So I guess we might as well use our cheque cards for that!

What do I have to do to get these points?

I didn't make any withdrawals in Feb, and had one swipe on debit card (balance was on credit).

Seems like the cash at till is mandatory?

I'm current on 16000 (level 4) and these points would get me to level 5.

I think it depends on whether you are on gold or platinum. I find on platinum I don't need to draw cash, but the gold rules make it out like you need to draw cash@till and none @atm.

Yip, platinum.

So this month, I got 17750 points. Yes, 250 away from RL5.

And there is nothing else that I can see to get me to RL5, apart from 3 things:
1 Going into debt.
2 Investing in a share investor account with FNB
3 Waiting 12 months until I have not been in arrears for 18 months instead of 6 (only got my credit card 6 months ago).

The problem with 2 is that I am currently paying down credit card debt, and it doesn't make sense for me to invest when I should be paying credit card debt first instead. The credit card debt was from paying for my studies and having a crown done on a tooth, incidentally.

Just open a share saver account and dump some cash in there. You don't have to transfer money into it monthly IIRC...

I would need R15k in cumulative trades over 6 months. So, there is that. As I said, I still need to pay off credit card debt.

EDIT: Thinking about it, one could open a share saver account, invest R15k, wait a month, sell R15k, and have a boost to your RL for 6 months afterwards. Might cost you a few hundred in trading fees and possible losses if the price of the share that you bought, drops.

I'm waiting to see what my upgrade from Platinum to Private Client brings and what I'll lose in ebucks. No one can tell me... :(

Btw - fuel rewards are earned at any garage, right? Gf seems to think Engen only

Engen is where you can use your eBucks card to fill up using eBucks as a payment method.

Apart from paying more, you eBucks earned% will be better as well as increased thresholds, plus you get more benefits on PC.
The criterii for eBucks reward level points for plat and pc are exactly the same

You can fill up anywhere, I go to my closest Total.

You can pay with your eBucks card at most Engens, but ask first, some of the smaller ones don't accept it like the one at the top of Roeland in Cape Town.

Using ebucks to buy fuel is not an efficient way of doing things
1) you lose out on the earn
2) no discount.

Rather buy discounted vouchers for somewhere like makro to use for household shopping.
