Okay I figured I would post here as everyone obviously knows what's potting.
After three months of "service fees" from Nedbank with no description and R100+ every time I've decided **** them.
So now my question is as a new starter to this whole affair where/what do I go with?
1. Joint Account - My wife and I currently share one single account. Presumably FNB don't offer this in a genuine Joint Account setup but it would be nice to actually get her name on cards instead of mine, which Nedbank could never get right.
2. I'm a cheap bastard, therefore I want it to be cheap and only have the necessary features, nothing extra that I'll never use.
3. Internet Banking - Do my wife and I each get our own internet banking profile that looks at the same accounts? Or do I simply share my credentials with her as I have to do with Nedbank?
Currently we have 1 x Cheque Account (with Nedbank) and then 1 x Virgin Credit Card each (because it's free) that we use for online.
Presumably there is eBucks to be made by getting credit cards with FNB as well. Can this all be linked to one single "profile" so we both have full visibility of everything?
They claim to move all your debit orders...how much success have people really had with that? And how does it work?

In terms of joint accounts - no. But you can give her full ATT on your accounts (authority to transact), means the accounts will appear in her online profile too.

1. My wife and cousin has credit cards on my account in their own name. My wife has cheque card also in her own name
2. I pay R200 on platinum...includes cheque and credit card account most of the features...main limitation is no. Of free ATM transactions
3. You can create users yourself and specify what accounts they look at. So your wife can have her own profile....and she won't be able to see the account you keep on the side for your gf :thumbup:
Get the credit card....even if you are earning your bank fees back in Ebucks...it goes upward from there

Yes that's what we have at the moment.
Reason I was hoping for a joint account proper is that recently Vodacom declined her an upgrade to her contract even though she had a contract with them for 5+ years before going prepaid for a few months and then wanting to get back on contract based on her not having a bank account in her own name or some such bull****.
And those costs are included in your R200 a month?
Any major benefit between Platinum and Private other than the crazy difference in fees?
And they don't charge you for this? And you can do it yourself without going into the bank? Jeez, Nedbank really is behind the times.

I guess you just answered my question above. I primarily have a credit card just for online safety, it's never actually in credit.

One thing I must say is that FNB's website is still a little overwhelming and "making banking simple" isn't happening at all for me.
I'm under one account option and then click on pricing and it opens the PDF...but then I can't find that same account anywhere in the pricing structure. Why aren't they just forthcoming with this stuff?

I'm waiting to see what my upgrade from Platinum to Private Client brings and what I'll lose in ebucks. No one can tell me...
Btw - fuel rewards are earned at any garage, right? Gf seems to think Engen only
Bleh. They "Pre-Approved" me for Private Clients as well. Thing is is that I am on the Fee Saver option (9k in the account). No way I'm gonna leave 100k in my account doing nothing to save me on bank fees.

No extra charges for the extra credit cards.
To earn maximum Ebucks , use your credit card for everything. Except airtime I think, they charge you interest on that. On platinum they assign you a banker..a benefit as well as a potential disadvantage. For most things I send to my banker to sort out. He sends me forms, I fill them and he handles the rest.
Cash deposits attract high fees....so a R5 easy account on your profile can be beneficial if you deposit lots of cash.
Am a "no credit" kind of person too. But am using my credit card for ebucks. You can opt for the credit to be paid off in full every month from your cheque account...you need to use between 10% to 90% of your cc limit every month for maximum benefit.
Private account requires a higher amount to be deposited every month as well. My SO and my salaries combined is more than adequate for a private account... But don't see much additional benefit apart from higher Ebucks earn limit.
To take advantage of FNB's eBucks you will have to primarily swipe with your credit card. Just settle it at the end of the month.
Transact at the ATM and not at the branch. Once you're setup, look under My Rewards -> My Earn to see what you need to do.
Look towards the middle of the pdf. They have their pricing structure there.
Basically, FNB pays me a minimum of R200 p/m to bank with them

i basically gathered that i will earn that amount of ebucks as a minimum monthly, so i went ahead and maxed out my credit and overdraft and invested it.
Interest on the combined(135k) is +- R900 per month plus R200 account fee's plus the smart device for R149, and i still break even.
thus i am gaining interest at a nice healthy rate, and FNB is paying me for borrowing their cash

I'm on the fee saver - no banking fee's for me + I get a minimum of R200+ p/m depending on my spending.
