Tips to Boost your eBucks

Yep, but Checkers suuuuuuck :( Why couldn't it be PnP :((

Thats a different subject :-) cant tell you how much i have fought with PnP at 4 diff stores with rude staff or people pushing my trolley away WITH my child in it... eventually sat down with the store manager @ Claremont - and told him what i thought of them constructively as well as wishing them all the best to improve things under the new guy at the helm. I used to use Pnp religiously with my Disco card. but because of the above reasons i can't step foot in the store as it gets my back up LOL. Plus now all my rewards are in ebucks and not split into miles and points and other cr@p. (Vitality from WW = cash into my cheque account now)

I buy what i can (if i can get to and i am now actively trying to do more) checkers, otherwise WW... and I'm a 8-10k a month on food kinda guy. Best ive done @ checkers so far is R2900... hoping for a bigger %!

Anyways - trick with Checkers is - first thing in the morning... then everything is quiet :-) And never on month end lol

And yes - i do more of the grocery shopping then my wife since I have the flexibility

This rule on gold is going to push me down to RL4 :-(
"Do you have an active FNB Home Loan with a min outstanding balance of R100 000 and an FNB debit order or salary stop order set up on the account?"
The account is on my SO's name, and the debit order comes off my account, which is not with FNB.
We push all swipes to her account for reward purposes. Will have to move the debit order in order to get RL5! It just seems like unnecessary thing to do, much prefer the old rule here.

Or am I reading this wrong & FNB should have a debit order instruction irrespective of the bank?

Wow I'm reading through the changes now - they are quite big!

Very curious to see what my new reward level will be.

Also notice that Uber now gives you eBucks, up to 15%. I can earn 15% cash back on Uber rides from Discovery, but, if I use my FNB card, I can get the eBucks discount. Hmmm.

EDIT: If I read correctly, these changes might torpedo my reward level. A quick calculation reveals I might not even hit reward level 4.

Things like homeloans got nerfed big time, and you no longer get points for having an active tablet or smartphone contract.

Did a quick check on my May spending and eBucks rewards at Checkers, and it looks like I'll be losing between 1000 to 2000 eBucks now with the checkers earn capped at 20% :(

I think you must have a FNB bond, and a debit order going off from a FNB account

Must say the Checkers staff in Hermanus have good manners, obviously customer interaction is part of their training as I find that with all the cashiers. I have also experience P&P's rude staff (in Melkbosstrand).

I have actually found a few things in Checkers which Woolworths doesn't have (where I still do my food shopping), e.g. mixed grated cheese. I get most of my non food stuff and alcohol from Checkers.

I always assume that Checkers sucked purely based on look and feel.

Having taken the plunge since going FNB I don't know why I haven't been using Checkers for years.

Cheaper, fresher and much better variety than Pick&Pay ever had.

Also been asked numerous times at Checkers if they can help me...that never happened at P&P where I literally needed to demand assistance and then got the "okay...if I absolutely have to" attitude.

You can see what your new reward level would be, if you know how you will spend in the month of July. Ebucks (Calculator)

Looks like it. Might just move the debit order as that is half the amount of ebucks gone.
Should look at upgrading her to platinum.
I was thinking of moving to private clients/wealth of they would accept me. First need to assess the ebucks rules to check if it is worthwhile.

You know the new rule about 100% of your monthly spend is from your credit card?

Do you think cash withdrawals done from Pick n Pay count as spend on my cheque card? Because if they do, I lose 2000 points just like that.

Also need to make sure I am setup to receive marketing from Wesbank, and I need to login to Wesbank online once per month (uh, what a waste of time).

Cash withdraws can only be done via Cheque Cards (And no, it isn't seen as spending at all)

Filling in the calculator i get this,

Maximum Rand Spend for Checkers & Shoprite is capped at R2 450 per month

Do your home work very carefully before switching.

It doesn't help you move up the ladder, costing you triple, earning less rewards.

I'm currently with investec.
I was contemplating the move but only if FNB will sweeten the deal with a better interest rate on my bond (I'll move my other bond to them as well if they can match the interest). So it will cost me less and ebucks earn will be higher (we'll move spend off the gold account).
Then also pay less on bond, I need to see a consultant for this though.

Don't worry, I won't make the move if it won't benefit me. I've just been putting it off. Not used to going to the bank.

So you are trying to switch banks just to get a better bond rate and to earn ebucks ?

Sounds like a good reason to switch to me, especially the lower bond rate.

Well, my 5c on this topic ... I apply every 4 months for a better rate, and they just say no and give a reason or 2.

But if you want to move to get ebucks, if the rules change in the banks favour and you get less, you will not be happy. Example, year on year customers earn less and less on rewards.

I would say, if a bank offer you a great rate, with an awesome package, go for it.

I know friends who bank at investec or RMB ... (That banks offer more than the lower end banks), if that makes sense
