Is anyone else being charged service fees?

I'm on the platinum bundle (so I have a cheque card and a credit card) and I also have a smart device contract. I see that I am being charged for debit orders, payments and transfers. I mean, there is a fee of R16 for a debit order. But, I see I am still being charged the monthly account fee.

Does anyone else have this?

Is this your first month on a bundle? Is each service charge actually reducing your balance on the date of the transaction or is it just listed there. Wait till the end of the month and see does it actually get deducted then?

I'm on Fee Saver so at the end of the month I see the total of all the fees deducted, e.g. -R258.50 and then the next line would be the fee reversal for the same amount.

Using the app is easiest. I use it for buying prepaid elec and prepaid airtime.

Looks like I'll be around 23,000. But I'd like to close the Euro account (no interest) and not be forced to use the app (don't like the interface). Think it's about a 3,000 drop. Waiting to see next months results ...

I reviewed again, not as optimistic as I first was, looks like it's gonna be tight (and not in a good way) - should just make it for JUL15, if not, will need to review and get back to 18K.

If you have a smart device, remember it was posted earlier, that you'll get the points for the duration of the contract.

I am thinking of getting an FNB card but not sure which one to go for.
I've been told to stay away from credit cards so a cheque card is the next option.
Which option did you guys take? Platinum? Gold?
Does one generate eBucks faster than the other?

Also, how does it compare to Greenbacks?

Is there any source for these new Wesbank rules?

Here you go:
"Use FNB's Vehicle Finance or WesBank Products****
Have an active* FNB Vehicle Finance or WesBank Account which you have paid on time over the last 12 months from an FNB account, update your contact details at least once in a 12-month period via WesBank Online and allow WesBank to communicate with you by giving them consent to market to you = 1 000
Log in to WesBank Online at least once a month = 1 000"

If you are coming to FNB for ebucks, then you HAVE to use your CC to make it worth your while.

Greenbacks are really bad :(

You don't even earn points when you fill up !

Credit card is better than cheque for points earnings. You need a cheque and credit account to benefit most.

Yes, CC is a must.

Platinum vs Gold, well this all depends on what you spend your money on.

Willing to spend around 20% of your purchases at Checkers, do you spend a fair bit on petrol each month, do you buy prepaid electricity and airtime? If yes to all the above then go Platinum CC and cheque account.

Not sure how what Greenbacks offers, tell us?

My monthly expenses are as follows:
approx R1200 on petrol per month
approx R1200 on food per month
approx R300 on elec per month and,
approx R200 on airtime per month (I mostly buy airtime for data in any case and when I am at home then it is on wifi).

What is your total CC bill likely to be, if you diverted all your spending to the CC by paying bills online where possible and no cheque or debit card spending?

A real bad thing about these rules is that excess online spend does not default to normal spend. It sucks because I'm booking an overseas trip and most of the upfront spend is online which has a very low cap.

I emailed ebucks and their response was that online spend also counts towards the normal spend category.

Greenbacks are massively K*K. I'll save you having to hear about them

The new calculator on the site doesn't indicate that, whereas the old one did.
The rules for platinum is that after you hit the cap, eBucks are calculated at 0.6%, the rules on gold are silent.
I expect them to trim it, so I'll be pleasantly surprised if the response you received from eBucks holds true.

I can already see a spending of at least R2900 per month, based on the above.
I still have a lot to do in my house so that will push things up by quite a lot, I still need to buy a gas stove, a new fridge, a new washing machine, a couch and another TV.
