Tips to Boost your eBucks

FNB's normal policy is to charge and then refund. I'm guessing that way the logic of whether to charge or not doesn't have to be done in transactional time or complicate the charging process, but can be done in batch time or as a separate process?
I see the same for certain other rebates/discounts I get.

Hey - thanks to all for the heads up on using my CC for fuel instead of my Fuel card. I'm no longer paying 20 odd bucks a month in interest.
Thank you :-)

..Does CC mean Cheque Card or Credit Card to you?

Interesting. I thought they started charging you immediately when buying fuel on CC....

To be honest with you ... I am just charged what I am putting in. And another rule for me is, I make my spending R0 every month, so no interested charged

Cool stuffs.

I was just under the impression that the CC starts charging interest immediately when buying fuel (Dont know why. Assume someone trying to sound informed told me or something).

More eBucks to the people!

I get billed (and when I say billed, what I spend on my Credit Card) is what I make zero when the due date comes.

I only spend on my credit card. (It makes my life so much easier)

If you had been paying attention, you would know that using your cheque card is now an eBucks swear word with major penalties :)

I have and do. But unfortunately years of conditioning has made me averse to swiping credit cards for fun

IIRC and speaking under correction, it is mentioned in FNB's Credit Card terms and conditions that they charge interest, though we have found they never do in practice.

Use of the PetroCard will however incur interest immediately.

Ah...one of those sleeping dogs that they can wake up whenever they feel like it?

Like when DSTV suddenly decided its no fun allowing people to upgrade and downgrade as they please any more and they started implementing a long standing, but never enforced T&C line item?

Yeah, i guess something like we reserve the right to relax certain conditions but any relaxation of such condition does not prevent us from enforcing said condition in future

Yea exactly... i remember i got charged interest before when i had a virgin credit card.... and no one could tell me why, so i closed the account. :-)
To be honest - i cant remember if i used the virgin petro card or the credit card.

Anyways - my private bankers assistant - also told me to use the petrol card... and to get another petrol card for my wife, as petrol would incur interest if my wife used her credit card (linked to my credit card) to put in fuel.... THis information was given to me when i initially asked them, and then AGAIN when i asked them to confirm it with the credit card division. So i suggest everyone keeps mum on this... since every time they change the rules - they take something away.. ;-)

I see I can get 6 Mbps ADSL uncapped for free on platinum RL5 ... don't need it but might as well get it for backup purposes.

Yes, it has its limitations (10gb per day speaking under correction) but my access via Telkom is only 2mbps so I'm happy. Torrents only have a chance of working after midnight.

Recently started using justseed.it. It may bypass the shaping (HTTP download).

I only need it for a backup account so won't use it much. The free 3GB I used on occasion (read Afrihost) but it wasn't enough.

With the 2014 rules (platinum) you had to choose either 500 MB Cell C data or uncapped. Now you don't have to choose.
