Tips to Boost your eBucks

Electricity<snip>
Thanks for sharing.
My R5k is usually made up of:
R1k Checkers
R1k Fuel
R1k Online (Telkom/Rates)
R2k other expenses which I can swipe for
Sadly, my complex has monthly billing for electricity. I would have definitely made the switch to Premier if I could switch to prepaid electricity cos that would easily be an additional R1k worth of qualifying spend (i.e. an extra eB1500).
My budget has a very small window for fluctuation so the above stays very consistent.
So, as longs as I maintain RL5, I score eB1500 for Checkers, eB1500 for petrol, eB300 for online, and scraps from everything else

how do you work out your qualifying spend?
Most of my ebucks don't come directly from card swipes, but rather from fuel, uber, prepaid and smart device.

I have a smart device, but I'm Premier, not Private or whatevertheotheroneiscalled :( :( :(

I recently (December 2015) upgraded my FNB accounts from Gold to Premier (Cheque and Credit Card).
I meet all the qualifying criteria, however my two premier accounts are listed as “Not Qualified” on the eBucks website (see attached screen shot).

Any idea why this is?

Related to this, I enquired about upgrading from Premier to PC last month (December). The feedback my banker got from eBucks was, "points will be allocated based on the platinum account." for the month of December. Therefore my interpretation of what I was told is that any activity on the new cards will be ignored in the month of the upgrade.

How accurate this info is I don't know, but you can soon tell us based on your experience I hope :)

I'm guessing that you don't have a family yet at that Checkers spend :D

R1k on checkers spending ... mmm, R33.30 a day. I assume you don't have any pets either. Dog food became expensive
:wtf:

Wife and 2 little kids!
I do decent amount of food/grocery spend from places where I can't swipe a CC . [EDIT: Cos (a) I can usually get stuff cheaper than Checkers even accounting for the eBucks I'd score, and (b) Certain things, like meat, just can't be bought from Checkers]

Also ... my wife and I come from a very humble socio-eocnomic background, so living frugally is second nature :)

congrats on post 1000 ;)

Both let me pay with a recurring credit card payment. Filled out a form with cc details instead of a debit order deduction form.

That is awesome but I do not understand how that is possible.

Ok .. that makes sense ! :)

easy... they take your card details, and do a Card-Not-Present transaction once a month... dangerous though... because if someone gets those card details... spending heaven! :D
There must be an automated method. There's no way that MTN is doing this manually

well yeh sure, but the point is, they have your card details stored and submit seperate transactions every month. to your bank, it's just another transaction, not linked to any kind of "set of recurring payments" of some sort.

Yes. But if something is going awry with my deductions, it's easier to cancel the credit card than to change bank account numbers.
It's semi safe

So ... after the new allocations have been updated to our profiles ... how much did you guys earn in the year 2015 ?

[-]Earned my usual eB12,000. Still have to double check this because some of that is supposed to be from fuel/checkers spend on 29 November...[/-]

edit: Misread your post. I would estimate I earned around eB140,000 for 2015.

Is there an easy way to see, or do I need to add up all the allocation?
