I'm considering have a family member bring me a Pixel 3 from Canada. Any reasons why this might be a bad idea?

I've got a Pixel 3. Had an issue with the device on MTN. Some of my incoming calls did not come through (went straight to voicemail), and some outgoing calls (all networks) could not connect.
Google support tried to assist, but failed. They replaced the device, but freight to and from USA was my cost (as they don't deliver to SA). Google support was excellent.
The replacement device also started displaying a similar problem after about a month, but not as significant. MTN advised they send out patches for the locally available and supported devices, but unfortunately the Pixel is not one of them.
BTW, I have a Pixel 1 the past 2 years, and no issues whatsoever.
Will I still take a Pixel going forward, absolutely yes.

That great to hear. For case and screen protector, did you simply import those too?

my vote - NOT to Pixel

Why would one want to get a Pixel with the like of the S10 in the market?

Indeed I see the Pixel in Canada has been marked down from the usual $999.

I would however, still put in the extra bucks and go the S10 (if OP is spending his own bucks)

But like you said

Are you paying for it?

If no, yes take it.

If yes, no don't take it. Get an inverter and batteries.

I totally agree!

I import from Spigen. Don't use the global freight as it gets into the postal service when it arrives in SA.

Spigen however do not have screen protectors for the Pixel 3, but a liquid. I haven't tried this.

Google Store has a special on the Pixel 3 for this month. Starts from about R7500.
