On Google store. Change location to Canada. Canada is from C$ 750 (exchange at R10.60 to 1 CS).
US Google store is from $599 US.

Thanks. Have no idea why I was under the impression C$749 was R10000. My bad

So my choice is R8000 for a pixel or R10000 for a s10e...

I've been on the pixel wagon since the pixel 2. Still have my pixel 2 which runs Android Q beta. My daily is a pixel 3XL and the wife uses the 3. We are both on Vodacom and have no issues. If you're looking for stock android go pixel. If you want bling go Samsung

I've seen this behaviour before. This was however on a Verizon device. Once the user added all APNs manually it worked just fine.

Are all your APNs added automatically?

Yes, all APN's were automatically added, except for Afrihost, but not using Afrihost anymore.

I will give this a try and test. Thanks.

Can you list those bugs? I've not experienced lag ever on a pixel device. You'll experience lag on non pixel devices. I've not experienced lag on pixel phones.

Yea, thought you'd suggest a Chinese brand. OnePlus uses cheap screen digitisers. While the specs look good on paper, the OnePlus 6/6t has touch input lag. A whole 102ms. Hold a OnePlus next to a pixel and you'll feel it. Especially when you type.

Also, every Chinese branded phone I had, from the OnePlus 6/6t to the mi mix, oppo phone and poco, the vibration motors are utter crap.

In hindsight i should have prefaced my statement with "IMO"

Cant speak for myself, just on whats been reported. (camera freezes, random notches appearing, photo's not saving, etc.) You are not going to find a 100% perfect phone out there. Pixel will fall short somewhere that another device does well and vice versa.

IMO, pure stock android isnt really all that great. but if its good enough for you then by all means.

you seem quite settled on the pixel before even posting here.

You didnt really put a list of criteria in your 1st post so I'm just stating the alternatives.

I'm not really set on anything as yet. My phone died, so I'm on loaned one for now. I can only upgrade in November and realised my brothers are coming to visit next month so thought about the option of having them bring one across for me. Anyway, I'm not too fussed about criteria except that I want a smallish phone with a fingerprint reader, quick charge and, ideally, USB-C. Sadly the smaller phones are a bit of a rare breed at present, hence why I was thinking Pixel 3 or S10e. I'm a reasonably heavy user (phone, whatsapp, connectitvity apps, browser) but don't game. I definitely don't need a flagship, but as I mentioned the fingerprint scanner would be super. I have a 10" tablet that I use when I want / need a bigger screen, so the smaller the phone the better for me.
 
Do you need a camera? Pixel.
Do you need something that does calls and has a good mic and camera? S10 or S10e. It will probably have the Google Camera ported soon.
If You want near stock, one plus is also better overall Tbh.

Thanks. The OnePlus 6T is only about R500 cheaper than the Pixel and quite a bit larger which, as I mentioned, is a drawback for me.
 
What are the issues with S10? Maybe I've been out of the loop but my S8 is still performing flawlessly after 2 years. Samsung has gotten rid of the bloat and the user experience is far better than it was years ago. I have not even looked at rooting and upgrading the roms on this device as the updates have been fairly quick.

If you plan on using google pay, remember that it will only work on NFC enabled paypoints, where as SamsungPay will work on 99% of them. I am using samsung pay now more than GooglePay because of this.

Also warranty ...

Pixels seem to be more like Beta products, I have read about endless issues with them, especially the Pixel 3 XL, it seems to have some of the most bizarre issues.

I would say wait for Pixel 4,or get something that is locally supported like a Samsung Galaxy S10+, Huawei P30 Pro, or Nokia 9.
 
My pixel 3 XL has phone call issues on the Vodacom network... Every now and again, when the reception is not great, ,the person i speak to cannot hear me clearly... I'm either garbled and/or breakin up on their end while i can hear them clearly. It is extremely frustrating. I've had this issue since i had the phone in December. Warranty replacements have the same issue.

I then tried a MTN prepaid Sim and had absolutely no issues. I could make phone calls again...lol...

I'm thinking of porting to MTN now... but still 2 minded... Not sure if the network is decent.
 
Its not a network issue. Got multiple pixel 3's on Vodacom and all are working fine.
