I sent a PM to the both of you on May 21st regarding my issues with MTN. Neither of you have bothered to offer a response - not even a cursory apology for not being able to help.

I take personal offense thanks to your (lack of) action. You actively participate on the forum, while blatantly ignoring the plight of your fellow forumites. Yes, you've both helped many in the past, but I see complete and utter disinterest from your side with regards to the current flood of complaints against MTN.

Over and above the fact that you work for a company who chooses to stay silent regarding the complete mess their billing system is in, I would like to inform you that you are also associated with a company who blatantly steals from its customers.

I upgraded my contract around April & subsequently canceled the upgrade a few days later, returning the phone. Tomorrow the 3rd invoice will finalise where MTN charge me a R200 'promo' fee for a phone I GAVE BACK.

Thank @$% my contract with MTN is up - I'll happily take the opportunity to take my business elsewhere. Tomorrow I will cancel my debit order, have the last one reversed and from there I will audit my own account & pay MTN what I see as fair. If they want the rest, they can sue me...

Be that as it may, they have more than once publicly offered their assistance as agents for MTN. Thus, they chose to associate themselves with the company. If they can't/won't help, all it takes is 3 minutes to pop out a quick PM in reply. Neither of them have shown the decency to do that.

On a separate matter, and to add insult to injury, I did finally receive a call FROM MTN last week.

Short version:
"Good day, sir. Are you still experiencing coverage issues?"
"I didn't report coverage issues"
"It shows on our system that you did log a query, I am following up to ensure that this has been resolved."
"Oh, right... I did query your 3G coverage... In 2007!!"
"Yes, sir... 2007"
"Sod off!"

MTN, redefining incompetence on a daily basis...

*joins crusade*

so i dial 808 today, automated lady says:

*you have have 7 SMS's
*you have R196 available
*you have 436MB remaining

so i check my balance due:

Your current call charges are R232.00...

im on an anytime 200 with a 1gig data bundle

how the fsck can my call charges be R232 if i still have R196 remaining out of my initial R200 and 436MB remaining, AND there is no ways in hell i used 700MB in the last 17days!

My reception has also been dodgy for a good few weeks now, and i give up trying to call them!
So i shoved my vodacom sim in and its the only way i can get anything done at the moment!
Yet im forced to pay the stinking contract.
MTN i reckon the wheels are coming off your train!

Welcome to the "Overcharged Club" There are many members here.
When MTN takes the money off your account you will have to do a reversal asap. Then pay cash to MTN what your normal amount is.
Then wait for their reaction. I am.
