Perhaps instead of going WOW! What big spenders for black friday and cyber monday maybe Solidarity or SARS should investigate the individuals that are spending such ridiculous amounts. It's more than likely the case that these individuals would be affiliated or related to someone in one of the multiple failing and yet to fail SOE or government itself.

Just my thoughts on the matter...

Or they could just be hard working people with loads of cash lying around. Or people that have been saving all year for black Friday.

That could also be true of course. But i dont see how someone would want to save up 400k to spend it all in one place or do a takealot checkout for 200k, if your career grants you the opportunity to save so well then that person would also be of a different kind of thinking and not spend it in such a fashion.

This was "not use to it" kind of spending in my opinion. And i doubt the abovementioned example of person would have such wants and would only buy that which is needed. (because they would probably already have what they want in the first place)

not so easy to guess but yea anything from a rich daddy's girl or boy to money laundering.

Not my job

Maybe worth reporting to the Public Protector? I think all transactions above R5,000 should be flagged. Maybe an application process where you have to do a few online forms to apply to buy expensive items.

All very good suggestions. Thanks for interesting ideas, OP.
