Too fat to fly?

I paid for my seat, and expect the full use of it.

If some fat oozes over to my side, and is a bother and nuisance, I'll simply get out a ballpoint pen and jab at the oozing folds of flab until it retreats.

Or else they will have to assign me another seat.

Would love to see three fat people trying to squeeze in next to each other in a row with 3 small seats....
 I had a Sumo wrestler on the 8 hour flight to Bangkok...and it slept all over me and my seat too. When we landed in Bangkok I swore I would never ever fly that far again. Nothing can make up for the horrid flight I had :(

Not easy travelling long haul...sitting next to a overweight...or clinically obese person.
But should they be penalized for been fat?
I dont think so.

Standard space "rented" on the flight for a standard price. Thus you use more space you should pay more. Same as eating out, standard portion size for a meal... if you are not full and order another then you will be expected to pay.

It's not my fault I'm more hungry than other people. You must make allowances for me or I will take you to court!!

I seriously don't understand it. I agree with the vast majority of folks in this thread: If you're so fat that you need another seat, pay for the fscking seat. Otherwise the airline must give me another seat free too.

Agreed.

If I have to sit next to a fatboy whose fat keeps overflowing into my space, then I'm gonna take a Bic pen (or any ballpoint pen) and jab at the fat rolls until it get the message that my space is mine.

I once asked a woman to keep her fat rolls in her lap as they were spilling over onto my lap. Then I stood up when it landed on me again. The airhostess told me I had to sit. I said sure once she can provide me a seat without a built-in thermal blanket. I was moved to upper economy. They had to give her 2 seatbelt extenders

I feel such overly large people should inform the airline that they need 2 seats when booking so that the airline can book the correct seats allowing for enough space for such people & not over booking if they suddenly have to give the person 2 seats when they arrive at the airport. meaning someone else will probably lose an already paid-for seat. & no I'm not saying make them pay more. They need to be allocated more space.

Yes, I also feel that as soon as they (or their blubber) comes into my personal space I will either ask them to remove it or I will ask to be moved to where my space will not be invaded.

They also need to pay more. Like I explained it is the same as eating out. Standard pice for a portion of X, the same applies on a flight... X amount of space allocated per person for Y amount of money. If you want two "portions" you will need to pay for both.

Hypothetical scenario: a flight is filled with clinically obese people. As they all take up two seats, half of them don't get seats. If the airline is not allowed to charge them for the second seat, what then? Will they be allowed to tell the half that don't fit that they don't have a flight anymore, thereby losing half the income from the flight? On a low cost airline that should equate to a loss for that flight. Or, will they be forced to organize seats for the second half of the people on another flight, at own cost?

You know you have to start skipping when your friends go for a skinny dip and you are left to do a chunky Dunk...

What about our pc air hostes' the last flight i was on she could only just get down the aisle side ways. Every time she came past me i had to climb on top of the person next to me to avoid her fat ass shoved into my face. Uuuuuuuugh. Puke.

That's just wrong. Like Cele said: "They must envy your body!".

That is weird I would have thought that flight attendants would need to have limits imposed on their weight to prevent that sort of thing. After all they are working in cramped environments being overweight eventually makes it impossible for them to do their job.

If they are so fat that they infringe on the space of the passenger next to them, that passenger should actually get a discount, because they are unable to use the space they paid for - it is being taken up by the overweight person.

Interesting scenario.

What do you mean by the underlined word?
