Too fat to fly?

Being sensitive? On my last 20 hour international flight I was "sandwiched" between two obese people who couldn't give a crap, both filled their bodies into my seat and I am failing to see why I should be incovenienced and give up my personal space. Big drama on the flight, until I was moved, but consideration goes both ways. If you are obese and can't fit into an economy seat, upgrade to business or buy two seats but don't inconvenience other passengers by encroaching on their paid for space.

That is weird I would have thought that flight attendants would need to have limits imposed on their weight to prevent that sort of thing. After all they are working in cramped environments being overweight eventually makes it impossible for them to do their job.
Not allowed anymore in our new improved super PC world

Hmmm a few comments:

I'm a large person but I take great pains that I don't inconveniance other passengers with my size. As to the assumption of consuming larger meals, I can honestly say I probably eat the least in my office and the others are "normal" to thin. My issue is exercise and a sendentry job ( sitting on my butt all day long ), yet I've also swum the midmar mile and try do the odd bit here and there.

Lot's of judgement in this thread, I agree about the space constraints but the rationalising of why people are like that, is broad and rubbish.

ok i think some of you need to be a bit more sensitive to this issue. some people have problems with this ok. it's not like people want to be obese. yes there are people who over eat and those need to get a wake up call and they can certainly do something about it i.e. diet and stop eating take outs etc. but there are those with medical problems who really can't help it at all. so stop being the school yard bullies. be careful what you say be in on a forum or in real life. it's hurtful.

Screw that. Fat people always want to play the victim and expect everyone else to accommodate them. If they're too lazy to shed the kg's (and they don't have a doctor's letter describing a medical condition) then they must pay up.

It's about time everyone stands up to these "I'm happy with my body and if you can't deal with it then tough" types.

Bloody hell i would hate to think what would have happened if she had turned around, i would have got a face full of tuna.

Question - if these blobs need two seats to spread their gigantic bum over ...

How t. f. do they fit in those tiny toilets ?

lmao @ you calling them blobs but that is actually a good ass question now that I think about it. How the hell do they manage?

Just imagine all that sweaty naked flesh sandwiched into one of those cubicles..

Guarantee you'll hold it in the next time you're on a long distance flight

Oh and not to mention that if a fat fsck has a window seat then you're screwed:

Penalty YES. Sitting next to Jabba the Hutt is no fun for anyone. Getting sweat on and having to sacrifice ANY armrest space so the airline can stuff a whale into a tuna can is not acceptable.
Last Friday had that experience from Dubai to Durban !@#$% terrible 8 hours

If they are so fat that they infringe on the space of the passenger next to them, that passenger should actually get a discount, because they are unable to use the space they paid for - it is being taken up by the overweight person.

Good idea! I'd totally pay half price to sit next to a fatty. I'm just cheap like that :D

Who cares if its rude..

They're not even fat, they're CLINICALLY obese.... they must pay for 2 damn seats.

Cortisone can cause weight gain.. but hells bells one has to take an absolute crapload of the stuff to become clinically obese.

sorry haven't been on much today been really busy.

getting back to your reply BOFH, i beg to differ. my daughter was on cortisone inhaler from the age of 6 years old. periodically she would have to take the tablets. now she is a small eater. but over the years she gained so much weight that by the age of 14 she was weighing 78kgs. i had to put a stop to it and stop the inhaler and use other medications for her asthma. if it had continued the way it was going i would hate to think what she would have weighed a year later. i was insistent with the pulmonologist on this. he kept telling me there is hardly any cortisone in the inhaler. since changing her meds she has lost weight. it has taken months of hard work on her part but she has got there.

now you see why i feel for people who have a medical condition and have weight issues. i agree that those who choose to become obese because of over indulging is entirely their problem.

but people need to be more sympathetic when it comes to certain issues and from the responses i have read i feel that some of you are just nasty and rude.

What did your daughters physical activity level look like growing up?

I can't even see 99% of you losers calling someone a "fat fsck" in real life ...... and if you do, you're 100% likely to be one of those people who use other terms like "indian fsck", "black fsck", etc etc.

Most of the comments have specifically excluded those with medical conditions - the nasty and rude comments have been made against fat slobs who do nothing but stuff their faces continually in order to win the Mr or Mrs Disgusting Fat Hideously Obese Pig award.

I'm not saying that there are not those types but they are less a majority than most people think. I'm a big boy and I know 3 other big boys. Out of the group, 3 of us eat healthy and exercise daily with the 4th friend having major depression issues (lot of death in his family like) and he eats terribly. There are people in this world who drink their problems away, or take drugs, or fight, etc etc. To me it's the same thing ..... it's destructive yes but there is a reason behind it. So unless you have a magic machine to tell you that a particular "fat fsck", as you like to throw about, has no issues mental or physical, who the fsck are you to judge? Take a moment to let that sink in ..... if it can.
