Yes and no, depends on city. Jhb/Pta based ones are mostly very inclusive and you can see this when compared to Cpt based companies. As a Cpt person I only realised how different it was when I started working in Gauteng. Reason I quoted you was your mention of generational impact.. this I believe is VERY true and you can see the impact of this in Cpt (with coloured populous), vs rest of country with all non-white populous, particularly black people. In Gauteng you can see 2nd gen getting places faster, also educated while in Cpt it's pretty much remained the same as it was many years back. Now some will say yah but it's the type of black people lol.. no. it's opportunity!
Despite what people will say about BEE & AA being bad and how education is the way forward.. which it is.. the transformation will take decades that way(we talking 30-60yrs). Ironically, the ANC despite abusing the system to enrich themselves, did actually do the right thing and not surprisingly the DA actually does support this ideology too because its a proven way(see almost all places where oppression happen e.g. US..with black populous, natives they screwed up going the way Aus & Nzl went) to transform economics of populous rapidly (20-40yrs). Having said that though, I find Cpt to be very skewed and from what i hear from people working there, it becomes very uncomfortable when the company wants to hire someone based on race but instead is forced to hire a better performing person of colour. Fun times ahead for people of Cpt.. I guess looking at stats was not done by people moving there which is what u need to do with BEE/AA policies.
Anyway, i like the way in Gauteng educated people are beginning to find common ground more than in the past and the only time i find this not to be the case is when people try and bring race into it.
