My own estimations, and talking with people who are involved with the AIDS epidemic in this country. 30% is a figure bandied around a fair amount by them as being on the lower end of the expected infection rate.
Anecdotal evidence, pretty much exactly the same as the 10% figure actually.
No Pseudoscience involved or even necessary.
It's always a matter of definitions when comparing stats. Botswana is generally taken to have a higher % but with a small population the nominal numbers are low. In some cases higher % are quotes for RSA but that is of adult population etc

I don't think so. It means 1 in every 10 people you meet have AIDS (take a good look around the Christmas table)
What gets me though is that we are the most infected in the world. I can't believe that we the rest of the African countries aren't on that list.
I'm not being racist but 7 of the 10 are in Africa.
Except Africa is not a race but a continent, makes no sense.
