Top broadband countries revealed

What's the itty bitty blotch at the bottom?

Cr@p it's SA :).

So Honourable Minister Pule - how's that 100% broadband penetration coming along?

We need to donate more 3G modems and smartphones to the masses. Mr Pule can buy a Golf, that would free up several hundred thousand Rand for his constituents

A golf - are you crazy! :D

She'll never sign that off. She'll give us spectrum before she downgrades to a golf.

And we all know she's never going to hand out that spectrum without a few good old back hands filled with cash.

Dina Pule is a female. She doesn't have any constituents. She has a portfolio...

Look, it's not the lack of speeds that get us down alone, I suppose most could sort of live with it. It's the fact that we have some of the slowest speeds in the world combined with some of the highest prices, comparatively speaking - not to even mention the bad service.

Most of the above are caused by incompetent Telkom. It's blatantly clear that there is one bottleneck. I do not blame ISP's at all, as they have to make some kind of profit. They already did a huge part in lowering their prices, and what do the proverbial turds in the drinking water do? They increase the pricing.

It's time something is done. Is there not some kind of CPA ruling that can be thrown at them?

New Zealand's total number of connections is more than SA.

You can pick up 80GB p/m including landline with free local calls for $95/month

That should improve with the Fibre to the door rollout.

These stats mean nothing as far as how efficient SA Telco’s are in the context of providing fixed broadband but depicts the known facts that there are various challenges confronting the African continent. Further, taking into consideration the terrain makeup of our country and its location in the globe, the exchange rate and other factors, we are moving towards the right direction and in 5 year we should achieve acceptable levels and quality. Why do you think SA is the only country in Africa to make the list? It cost 3x more to provide a fixed-line in broadband in SA than it is in Europe. Having worked for different Telcos around the globe I know that for a fact.

Hows the uncapped situation there?
Last time I looked, nobody in NZ provides uncapped.
