Top Gear S22

I watched an old episode of Top Gear the other day, they actually reviewed cars back than and not just luxury cars but actual cars, yes it was a Golf 5 but still it was a car not sitting in the hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Cool story bro

I checked out the lineup for episode 3 and didn't even bother watching it. This has been the worst start to a Top Gear season that I can remember. I can tolerate only so much idiotic crap and lack of reviews. At least the next episode looks amazing - M4, i8 and AMG GT and Margot Robbie!

I loved that ambulance piece, was pretty hilarious. Reminded me of the TG of old, cheap car challenges have been a real scarcity of late. Sure they didn't review any cars, but it's a long season so there will definitely be a few reviews.

Really enjoyed Ed Sheeran (not having driven any car before this!) and of course Kiefer Sutherland  making fun of Charlie Sheen :) Then tonight that Ozzie racer bloke recorded fasted time in history of show. Lots of first. Plus the St. Petersburg by hovervan was pretty hilarious. Remember this is an expanded 10-episode season so there is bound to be plenty more to come.

The stars have never been an issue on Top Gear, but they're just an afterthought to me. The Saint Petersburg race wasn't terrible, but I didn't find it particularly entertaining either. We've basically seen the exact same thing before. Considering how many great new cars there are to review, it's frustrating when Top Gear waste episodes on junk.

The ambulance thing was cringeworthy to me. Hammond's patient launcher was funny, but otherwise humorous moments were far and few between. I'd have preferred them to make a real attempt at the perfect ambulance, which would actually be helpful to the world.

When has anything they've done, ever been helpful to the world? Remember the police cars, the van man, the amphibious challenges, the convertible people carrier, etc? It's always been about screwing around. I don't understand why people keep complaining about the show, yet keep watching it...

Agreed. Their humour now is tired. They're always make a hash of everything. If they were to do something properly and it works, they would get newfound respect and possibly even viewers.

I don't mind them screwing around, but then it must be funny. The humour this season has been mostly forced and cringeworthy. I've never seen their antics look so unnatural and staged before.

Also, I don't remember them ditching the review side of Top Gear to such an extent before.

Usually the first two episodes are just foreign tour specials (Vietnam, Africa, Mexico, etc). And usually the obligatory cheap car build-up challenges take up an whole episode. So we should actually be glad they threw in the Lambo. These are now out of the way, so the rest of the season should be more of the usual format.

TBO they have developed an anti-electric stance in all their shows, and with all the new cars that are worth reviewing are now plug-in hybrids and all-electric, I suspect no-one wants to give them a chance to muddy the waters in this new sector. The Americans also don't trust them to review new muscle cars, and these don't reach European soil very often anyway. And most of the supercars are now owned by big automotive companies like Audi, who recognise their lack of profit margin, and are just scaling back in general.

Just for anybody who doesn't know, you can stream the episodes directly from BBC IPlayer, assuming you have arrangements *cough*

Works like a dream, no ad breaks, and DSTV-free. What more could you ask for?

Better pirated, can keep it forever afterwards,
Almost like a VCR cassette:D

omfg, when Hammond shot the patient out the back of his Ambulance in the last scene. rofl.

And Jeremy all 2m of him squeezed into the back of a Porsche 10cm from a p**** trying to insert a catheter,

Sometimes I think they got Rowan Atkinson(Mr bean) directing them.

I wasn't a fan of episode 3. I'm all for stuffing around but a Porche ambulance. Come on.

Funniest thing i ever saw, with lowering ramming plates, to push cars out the way,

And Hammond's van, that set itself on fire when you brake, and then captain slow in a hearse, with ecnalunba written on the front,

One if their funnier challenges, similar to when they brought those trucks and raced them against each other,
