I saw some online discussions about this. I think they f***ked up with this movie at the end. Millions of people who did not see it in Cines jumped at this leaked version with sub-titles. In fact, last week it was the most downloaded movie, and also probably in the top 3 most downloaded movies ever. Many of these people won't care about the digital version when it releases or Blu-Ray version.

They should have jumped for an earlier digital release when this copy hit the scene. I think they lost out on substantial income here for online sources.

Can't wait to watch it again but with no sub-titles this time.

Why is AI needed to reproduce a voice? Surely it would've been a lot simpler to digitally simulate it?

Because AI can infer tones and "emotion" in a voice, where as simulation is still too computerised ...

There wasn't really a Penny in the first movie. Just a mention to an admirals daughter that Maverick made a pass at, from what I remember, with the name Penny mentioned. I'm going to have to rewatch tonight. So her age could at that time could be anything especially seen as though her age isn't mentioned in this movie.
