Top Gun Maverick

My appleTV purchase went live this morning and watched the first 4 mins of it (the plane/ship bits)

I have an OLED. The white text on black background was crystal clear and that's where you see OLED shine.

Sound was good - I have since found out that my Sonos needs retuning due to a software upgrade so that will be tonight's job.

For me the video quality looked amazing. Unsure how much Blu ray will make it better. But then I haven't connected my Blu ray to my setup when it was redone. Guess I am happy with streaming Dolby vision quality.

Irrelevant nitty gritty at the end of the day. Streaming from any online source vs the Blu-Ray disc cannot actually be compared. You are losing quality in both audio and video in streaming. The only question is how much. Sound and video just remains superior on disc.

Once every 10 or so years comes a movie you do not waste time on online streaming. This one, if you like flying, is it.

November it will be for me.

I'm waiting for that sort of quality to pop up on the high seas.

Buffer it overnight then you know you've got full quality vs a streamed version.

Grab a cancelled Comanche (this thing looks awesome) and make it the new Airwolf!

Okay, I have checked the one on Apple TV on my big screen. There is definitely a difference in quality from the Amazon Rip (22GB file) currently in circulation. But, there are some issues here and there, nothing major though. I will still be getting a proper 4K UHD Blu-Ray version in November to replace the current one I have on disc.

You mean you’ll wait another two months for it only to have much the same if not exactly the same experience.

No chance in this life that any stream, Apple or not, will have the same quality as a 4K UHD Blu-Ray disc. Not even remotely. Yeah, I will definitely wait.
