Top Private Schools

I think geography plays a massive role here. In Pretoria I'd dare to say that the top public schools are at least on a par to the private schools, and at a fraction of the cost. Unfortunately most public schools aren't on this level though.

I don't think you quite understand what actually goes on at private schools, The experiences you get are simply out of this world and require money, lots of it, Public schools cant give you that sort of experience because they don't have the budget. On an educational level maybe you have a point, But private schools aren't only about the curriculum, It is the overall experience that you pay for. That makes it worth every penny.

Your think the "average" private school down the road will be a better educational and life experience than Affies, Grey, Paul Roos, Paarl Gim, Pretoria Boys High etc?

To be honest, Curro is not that cheap AFAIK.

Someone explained to me that they pay per subject and it is around R2K/subject, but I stand corrected as I have no first-hand knowledge of how their fee structure works.
At Curro, fees vary from 6.5K to about 8K for Grade 1. And from 10K to 12K for Grade 10. All approximate figures of 2023. Curro waterfall is on the costlier side coz millionaire city..

We left SA about 9 months ago but fees for my kid was around 7k or so a month at a Curro school (Grade 3)
Moved her there from crawford, where the pricing was much higher and I felt the education worse
Yet Crawford is on the list and Curro is not . . .

There are a lot of ex-Model C government schools that are pretty much private schools in all but name that also charge pretty eye-watering fees. I'm thinking of the likes of Rondebosch, SACS, Westerford, etc. Would be interesting to see a comparison between these high-end "government" schools and these private schools.

Pretty k@k tbh. All it really consists of is a bunch of spoiled kids deluding each other that they are somehow special in the world.

And you don't get a good experience, especially nowadays where you can pay for the privilege of having your child falsely accused of racism.
St Stithians, Dr James, Ms Horwitz and Mrs Langa-Royds intentionally and deliberately failed to act in my daughter’s best interests; they failed to properly investigate the veracity and origin of the false allegations and acted with undue haste in their quest to prosecute her.

It appears that this was due to pressure from certain groups within and without the St Stithians community (which they referred to as the ‘greater school community’) and in the context of the ‘Black Lives Matter Movement’. Dr James, in her capacity of Head of the Girls’ College, decided to make an example of my daughter and to punish her in an attempt to quell the pressure from mainly black students and negative publicity on social media targeting several white students and teachers.

Ms Horwitz, as Chief Investigator for St Stithians, persisted with the prosecution of my daughter without having conducted a reasonable and proper investigation and without having investigated the origin of the allegations.

Mrs Langa-Royds, chair of the disciplinary hearing, found my daughter guilty on all charges, despite finding that she could not determine whether my daughter disseminated the alleged WhatsApp communication with the alleged racist content. Mrs Langa-Royds nonetheless found her guilty of racism, racist conduct or other offensive behaviour.

There is no amount of money on this planet that would convince me to entrust my daughter's education to these scumbags. I would rather put them in a township school with 50 kids per class than put them in a private school infected with DEI.

Same in Cape Town. In fact most of the prestigious schools in Cape Town are government schools.

Yeah, there are a whole bunch of really good public schools around. My eldest is in Gr6 this year, so we've started looking at high school options in earnest.

I am not talking about an average private school or Curro, I am talking about Proper private schools that offer experiences that you simply cant get elsewhere.
