EDIT: Or in my case, what would my girls experience at St Mary's or Eduplex that they won't at Affies or Menlopark? This is a genuine question so please leave the crap wise answers and help me make a good, informed choice for my girls.

Back in my day school was R28 per term per kid
And it was not compulsory
I don't ever recall paying
And school books were free

Times have changed

Such as Private schools in the midlands, Diverse private schools, Parents fly their kids from all over the world to attend these schools, No one is flying their kid from Europe to attend Hoerskool Diplaastoep Van Pretoria, No one is Flying their Kid from the USA to attend Curro or Crawford college in Fourways. Take your Kid to a Proper private school in the Midlands and you will see what I am talking about.

I would not want my kids to get into contact with any government minister's kids. Just now they pick up criminal tendencies.

If you need to send your children to an English school you probably have to go private.

However if you need an Afrikaans school most of the public schools are as good if not better than the private schools.

sandown is fairly rich suburb afaik. You can probably view township from Michaelangelo towers in Sandton as well.

Not your average private school, no, and definitely not for kids who are into mainstream sports. Those are some of the best mainstream schools. But definitely a notable difference academically when you compare them to the top private schools like the ones on the list that have 30%+ more kids achieving A aggregates in Matric.

But all kids are different and getting an A for matric is overrated for many career paths.

Top private schools most definitely have an edge overall, and the kids on average have a greater chance of achieving peak success if that's what they want in life.
