Top Private Schools

Lol. On what metric are Hilton / Michalhouse etc better than Affies / Pretoria Boys High?
Like I said, Schools in Midlands are very Diverse so you get to connect with other kids from all over the world, You network and make connections with people you simply wouldn't be able to reach in any other schools, You get to travel and do activities that Pretoria Boys High doesn't have, You seem to think education is only about sitting in a classroom and getting A's for all your subjects. Things are limitless when you are in a Proper Private school. It is quite eye opening actually, I don't think you should rob your kids of this opportunity.

You don't think, assuming I had the funds, I could get some pretty serious experiences for my kids with the R300k per kid per year saving at a pretty decent local school?

Not the same mate. It is like saying you could buy a Haval instead of a Porsche because you will get the same experiences for far less.

Being able to travel with 10 of your school mates on a trip to Europe is not the same as you taking your kids on vacation to Europe, The experience for her will be totally different and I promise she would enjoy the trip more with her school mates than with you. Being able to go sky diving on a weekend with her mates or visit the Drakensberg to camp for a week is a nice experience. Private schools give you the opportunity to do things you wouldn't normally do at home.

I'd prefer daily. I'm relational like that. If I had to choose between having them leave at 13 or at 18 I'm picking 18. Simple as.
Fair enough, But most parents that take their kids to the midlands are usually very busy parents who simply don't have enough time to spend time with their kids at home so it is easier to send them there so and just pay the fees. Also in Private schools there is also a very high divorce rate between parents so instead of the children staying in a single parents household they find it easier to ship the kids to the Midlands.

The school I went to in the UK charges £15k a term so these fees seem pretty reasonable. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What was the exchange rate then? Not sure when you went to school. If your parents paid that much, can you imagine going to a place like Eton.

My school probably cost R15 a term. I would check what they cost now, but they don’t have a website. Or computers.
Sounds like a much better deal.

Those are the current fees, not sure what my parents paid way back when.

FWIW Eton's fees are similar.

If you enjoy spending time with your kids, then send them to any cheap school but also make sure that you teach them university level maths and English. Save the extra that you would’ve paid in school fees and invest it for them.

If you don’t enjoy spending time with your kid (and be honest with yourself here), send them to private school and hope the teachers raise them into something decent.

The golden rule with children: if you don’t have the time for them, throw money at the problem.

There's at least one of those in this thread. Parents probably couldn't wait to get rid of him/her. I actually enjoy spending time with my kids.

In my opinion, if you went to private school, you should be opening the batting for your country in test cricket. And averaging at least 45. Anything less and you wasted a spot that could've gone to a decent batter.

Haven't done the analysis, but I'd wager the vast majority of current SA rugby and cricket players went to public schools.

No idea about rugby, but for cricket it's the same few schools (mix of private and public) that produce most Proteas.

What if you are a Kween who hated sports? Does being a first runner up on Rupauls drag race make you worthy of your spot in private school?

I thought drag queens are raised from the streets?
