Top Private Schools

Had some time now while watching the Giro. Here's the most recent text XI - as you say, a mix of private and public.
  1. Elgar - St Dominic’s (private)
  2. Markram - Pretoria Boys' High (public)
  3. de Zorzi - King Edward School (public)
  4. Bavuma - SACS (public) and St David's (private)
  5. Rickleton - St Stithians (private)
  6. Klaasen - Menlopark (public)
  7. Mulder - St Stithians (private)
  8. Harmer - Pretoria Boys' High (public)
  9. Maharaj - Northwood (public)
  10. Coetzee - St Andrew's (public)
  11. Rabada - St Stithians (private)
Maybe if Markram had gone to private school, he'd be able to stop his nonsense and become the legend he was meant to be…

Lol. On what metric are Hilton / Michalhouse etc better than Affies / Pretoria Boys High?
Hilton College matriculants achieved an average of 2.43 distinctions per pupil. Hardly impressive for a school of that 'calibre' when Rondebosch Boys is 1/3 of the price and gets better grades overall and has top calibre sporting facilities and boarding school.

But Hilton did achieve a 99% bachelors pass rate compared to only around 80% for Boys High. Quite a difference.

And judging by the last rugby test you'd probably want to avoid a private school if you want to play test rugby.
  1. Nche - HTS Louis Botha (public)
  2. Mbonambi - St Alban's (private)
  3. Malherbe - Paarl Boys HIgh (public)
  4. Etzebeth - Tygerberg (public)
  5. Orie - Tygerberg (public)
  6. Kolisi - Grey High (public)
  7. Mostert - Brits (public)
  8. Roos - Paarl Boys HIgh (public)
  9. de Klerk - Waterkloof (public)
  10. Willemse - Paul Roos (public)
  11. Mapimpi - Jim Mvabassa (public)
  12. de Allende - Milnerton (public)
  13. Kriel - Maritzburg College (public)
  14. Arendse - Paulus Joubert (public)
  15. le Roux - Paul Roos (public)
  16. Marx - King Edward School (public)
  17. Kitshoff - Paul Roos (public)
  18. du Toit - Paarl Boys HIgh (public)
  19. van Staden - Bekker (public)
  20. Smith - HTS Middelburg (public)
  21. Hendrikse - Glenwood (public)

Meanwhile Pretoria Boys High had 2 players in the most recent SA Test cricket team. Hilton have probably had that many in their history.

My experience has been that people from those private schools are often insufferable buffoons.

My experience has been that people who didn't go to those schools are often insufferable Bogans. They are quite obnoxious to be around.

You are killing me right now.:ROFL:
I went and had a quick look. Of the South African educated billionaires I could find (Elon Musk, Johann Rupert, Patrice Motsepe, Koos Bekker, Michiel Le Roux and Christo Wiese), not one of them attended a private school.

No question about it. For boys with a potential future in rugby and cricket then schools like Paul Roos, Affies, PBS, Grey, Gim are amazing value.

So I guess going to private school is pointless then, Right?;)

Back in the day was at same school camp as St Mary's Waverley, among other schools. Never came across a more promiscuous bunch of 12 year olds.
