Top smartphone cameras ranked

As smartphones become increasingly powerful, so do their camera systems, and for many, the camera's capability is the most critical factor to consider when buying a new smartphone.

While many people would look at a camera's megapixel rating to determine its overall quality, this only tells part of the story.

Modern smartphone cameras use a combination of different technologies and features to improve the quality of the pictures they take.

Uhh, didn't DxOmark lose credibility years ago?
They were basically said that every flagship release was always the best camera at the time.

I love my Samsung washing machine.
I have had mine replaced 3 times under warranty and had Samsung replace more parts this year. Turns out repair number 5 didn't fit a part right and repair 6 technician cursed the previous guy. Maybe just maybe this thing will make it out of warranty and still work. And before anyone chirps, it is not overloaded and every other thing call centre people accused us of. Every time they agreed that it was a machine failure.

Never ever will buy Samsung washing machine again.

In fact not even their TV, the software was awful and outdated quickly. LG for the win and still getting updates!

Is this really a Huawei thing? I've been working with this guy in Uganda and for some reason many of his photos look just like this!

EDIT: so it turns out he's got a Huawei (Model: JNY-LX1) P40 lite... how do you make it stop?

Well, I think the iPhone is a flagship and I can't even recall the last time it featured on the 'podium'.

IIRC, you cannot disable the post-processing, though you can minimise the beauty value. Odd, though, Apple does this with their webcams, the newer generation Apple devices, but not as much as Huawei.

My biggest qualm with Samsung is how tightly they lock up their APIs, you are contained within their ecosystem, so you can't use apps like Filmic (which is unusable on most devices) or mcpro24 to maximise the device's potential. These aren't photo apps, but damn, those devs know what they are doing with their apps.

That explains it, thanks - maybe I can get him to borrow someone else's camera.

I'm trying to produce a brochure for their organisation - odd or not webcams don't feature.

He was saying that any flagship reaches the top, so I pointed out the Apple doesn't ?
What upset you about that ?

Read the article. Apple is at the top list of devices in the DxOMark charts.

What is your issue with Apple? You sound like a butt-hurt girl crying for attention.

I don't get it??

I am pointing out the smoothing. It seems to be the thing nowadays, to smooth everyone out. The Apple webcam smoothing was pointed out in the reviews.

MKBHD points out more post-processing quirks with phone cameras in this video,

Smoothing is big in Chinese made phones.
