Top software pirates revealed by BSA study

We are pretty low on the list, so can the BSA just stfu already? :D Paying R1000's for software for PERSONAL use is pretty ridiculous for a developing country. Businesses however who are making money using the software should probably just pay, fair is fair. Still makes me sick that I paid R2000.00 for Microsoft Vista a while back and I had so many issues I had to downgrade back to XP, so I paid R2000.00 for XP which I already had a paid copy. Also fun having Rectron and Microsoft blaming each other while I wait months to have a PC that doesn't blue screen every day, great service.

lol.

There was a study on how software cost more (relatively) in developing countries than developed countries. And then they cry about piracy, how ironic.

It's usually the agents in said countries being greedy profiteers.

Using the same methods of calculation the BSA use for working our piracy, I can confirm that the cost of people reading the BS figures that the BSA releases costs South Africa a trillion million gazillion rand a month in lost revenue. These stats are as official and legit as the BSA`s stats.

Since 'BSA President and CEO Robert Holleyman' misuses the technical legal definition of the term "thief" in his propaganda, I will also. Robert Holleyman... you are a thief. You wasted my time by me having to read the disinformation you spread.... and we all know that wasting is the same as theft, so you are a thief.

When you learn the legal definition of "theft" and understand the legal difference between copyright infringement and theft. We will start taking you seriously, but until you do... ure kinda a liar every time you call copyright infringement theft. Since you are a "leader" in the web sheriff world you should understand the technical difference. If you dont, you are an idiot and should not be in the position you are in, and if you do, then you are just plain evil and manipulating and you should be exactly in the field you are in.

If you have to add the cost of MS's 30 - 50 MB updates monthly; chances are their S/W eventually costs R10k - R15k!

Thanks to Steam I have gone from a RAGING pirate to 100% "games" legit.

What about us who have three games players in the family? Me and my two sons? Are we supposed to buy each game three times?

Me too! Actually it was consoles that made me appreciate that warm, fuzzy feeling that came with legal game purchases. :D

I agree with gregmcc, why would you go through all the "trouble" of pirating windows if it only costs R400-R500?

Why even bother installing it? Its second best imo.

Something interesting. Wanna know why you can pirate MS Windows? Because MS would prefer your pirated their product rather than use the opensource alternative.

Imagine if Microsoft went the Apple route and started selling it's own PCs running Windows exclusively. I wonder what would happen to the likes of Dell/HP etc?

Making something as simple as windows and other software cheaper....now thats an idea!!

I wonder if Microsoft and the other corporate elites understand that every time the BSA releases a chest-thuming FUD article like this... it gets people talking about Opensource alternatives? :)

Hey guys check out a free alternative to Microsoft Windows:

www.ubuntu.com

Naaa everytime they do an article like this it just increases piracy i reckon hahah.

Open source is all good and well but without gaming for me it's useless so i just pirate windows software, same price as open source :D. Open source is free and so is windows and the windows apps :D. Same way to get them as well just download off the interwebs :D. When i look at the price for the adobe pack it shocks me actually, so nice to know i can get it free.

Corel draw is another classic rip off, every year or two they change a few things and charge 2.5k. If they charged 500 bucks i would buy it, i would buy most software if i thought it was worth it.

I bought a program for 200 dollars because it made my life easier, i even bought corel 11 for 4.5k but the upgrades are 2.5k for very changes and in some cases the new corel is actually worse like x5 is a fking joke compared to x4.

Lol, I just took the CorelDraw 9 discs from my work... Doesn't run on Windows 7 though. Found Inkscape suits my vector demands quite well at the moment. Does CD support .svg yet? It didn't in X3 which was the last version I used

Not sure don't use svg. I tried inkscape but for print work i just find a bit lacking.
