Hi folks

I have just deleted the topic “Sentech Problems…” because of various complaints from members regarding this topic. Although there were quite a few suitable postings under this topic it was simply too much work to filter them out and edit the others.

Regards,

LoneGunman *accepting the award for "Most Entertaining Yet Potentially Offensive and Disgusting Thread*

"I'd like to thank flashvc, for complaining like my grandmother, and worrying what constitutes vulgarity - which in the case of Sentech, is ludicrous and a bit like worrying about some elastoplast when you have a lethal sucking chest wound. I'd also like to thank the CEO of Sentech, AKA The Dark One of Mordor, and the Orcs of the CallCentre. Also those Sentech Orc spy forumites who debunk every complaint thread, dont mind bad service and suspiciously DO mind the public ridiculing of those responsible. Look up the word 'satire'. Thank you."

*applause and standing ovation from those in the audience who understand what 24/7 3k downloads mean*

Be interesting to know who complained and why [?]

Is a forum not ment to contain good and bad things, so if sentech complains then everyone gets scared and pulls of the complaints ?? I though this was an open forum.

PROASM: It was getting a bit personal and ya well things got a bit out of hand :)

Naaah, wasn't that. Was the Gunman's suggestion of ... ahem .. alternative services Sentech could offer in lieu of proper internet access.

:)

I found LoneGunMan's post very funny and intended in jest. If anything, it still proves that Sentech management really doesn't care about what is said in this forum. Good or bad.

Okay, so lets get this straight, so there's no future problem. :)

1) attacking sentech for bad/lousy service - is acceptable.
but
2) suggesting sentech personnel offer various ahem sexual favours in exchange for said bad/lousy service, is utterly unacceptable.
and also

1) its acceptable to be humiliated as a sentech customer, by obscenely bad service-
yet
2) its unacceptable to say anything (despite not using four letter words) to equally humiliate either sentech personnel or the CEO of Sentech themselves.
and also
1) its acceptable to complain repeatedly in this forum about problems, and to mock the callcentre/second level support Orcs - with constant 'gee MY service is fine' debunking threads inserted almost immediately thereafter said complaint-threads -
yet
2) the instant there is gleeful, non-obscene* ridicule of Sentech Upper management - complaints are lodged with the forum owner..

It's interesting which comments and threads are allowed through unchallenged except with minor debunking by the little green Sentech Orc-Spies, and which cause more prompt action.

(*obscene = those basic 6 or 7 words which were not used in the original thread - so anything else, may well be described as 'tasteless' - but not 'obscene'. A standard definition of 'obscene' is any act or description lacking in any social redeeming or artistic quality or worth - which pretty much describes all Advertising. :P)

From a sociological and psychological point of view, its fascinating to watch how offensively bad service is tolerated and defended by some forumites, yet satirical barbs directed at those responsible, are shot down and censored because of some rather quaint, old-fashioned, conservative, and very middle-class puerile assumptions of what constitute 'nice' or 'acceptable' speech.
I still think Sentech owes us a) apologies b) possible rebates and c) the option of oral favours :P

Some of the posts may have been in bad taste, there were quite a few valid posts as well, a few that i had made about issues i was having, i will no longer bother posting or reading these forums due to the fact everytime someone dosen't take kindly to a post it gets deleted, whats the point of a forum where users views aren't allowed to be viewed.

Is there any proof of "Sentech spies", and secondly that they get more prompt action?

I feel it is important for us to keep this forum looking professional. Hopefully somewhere somebody will read our posts and perhaps have some influence and courage to do something to help our cause. The line has to be drawn somewhere. Although I absolutely agree that free speech is important, if LoneGunman's comments about Sentech are permitted to remain on the forum (don't get me wrong, I laughed out load reading his post and have sympathy for him and you guys out there being stuck with a 24 month contract and getting zippo for it), what's preventing the next member from posting something more "obscene"/"below the belt"/call it what you want?
Remember how telkomsucks.co.za started out? There was nothing useful on the site but remarks thrown at Telkom, the kind that causes age restrictions in movies.

I think we must not lose sight of the bigger picture. We have a cause to fight here. Also we must remember to play the ball, not the person.

I petition for the original post to be reinstated. Otherwise I will insist on oral sex from rpm, and the other "moderators" of this forum... Including all "oral-sex-is-tasteless" Durbanites (to which 90% of the female population will contest) and a Sentech CEO (if deemed sexy enough).

Then again, this is the internet and a few lost bytes won't hurt anyone. It's a pity that a number of nincompoops decided that it's their right to insist that a very well written post, in jest, was "offensive".

I suggest they hang out in #sex on snow.shadowfire.org for some Skills Development Levy training, in the manipulation and management of Orc appendages.

I read this forum for fun, and yes, the bitching gets out of hand sometimes. But I also built the Linux driver for "fun" and I believe that some well-intended joculation about the bad service from Sentech on these forums isn't out of place.

LoneGunMan is an excellent poster, with writing and satiric skills, more than people such as the noone's and DblD's on these forums can ever dream for. I didn't write the Linux driver for MyWireless and join these forums to be "serious about Sentech's problems" every night. I did it for fun, and these forums have a certain entertainment and venting value.

If it wasn't for that, I'd be reading canned responses from [email protected] every night

Yes, this forum isn't meant to be a general venting place against Sentech, but it is indeed an arena to express one's opinion. Excessive venting can only agitate everyone in this forum, but it does indicate a trend to new visitors and possible new subscribers.

Excessive venting should be directed at the helpdesk, which is as simple as mailing [email protected] and insisting on a ticket.

LoneGunMan has done all these things (and probably logged more ticketed calls than any of you fsckers), and on a daily basis entertained me with his satirical descriptions of the escapades at the helpdesk.

For this, I bestow upon him the "Bastard User From Hell" award, which is symbolized by the following "Golden Modem" award.

Net minder mense sal jou verstaan.
