Another annoying problem :(

I currently have my decoder connected to my main tv via RCA, which works perfectly. This weekend I decided to run a RF cable to by daughters room. The first problem is that the picture is very snowy, even after trying to fine tune. The second problem is the audio is just static noise, even after making sure that the PAL setting on the decoder matches what the TV is set to. In this case PAL I on both decoder and TV, but PAL B/G on both TV and decoder did not make a difference.

The cable is brand new, and only 10M long. If I use a shorter cable on the main TV instead of RCA, I have the same problem.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I also tried changing the output channel on the decoder, same problem.

Strange

I have set up the tv on the decoder using RF and AV with almost no issues.

Can you change the RF channel that the decoder broadcasts on? Perhaps there is interference from another channel? Try removing the aerial-in from the decoder.

I have tried changing the broadcast channel to no avail. I don't have a normal aerial, so nothing is connected to RF in. This, together with the muddled audio from my optical out, makes me think my decoder might be faulty.

Sounds like maybe faulty. We do many extra points direct from the TOP TV decoder, sometimes splitting into 2 extra points with no issues over 15mt or 20mt.

I've got the same problem as you, but I do have *some* audio...

RCA works fine, but if I want to use RF (with only an aerial cable connected to the decoder) there is virtually no video and very little audio.

Seems like I might have a dud :-(

use a set back amplifyer to send the signal to the main tv and also the far tv.

I did this and now my 3 tv's are no longer fuzzy and sound 100%

-->dish-->decoder RF out-->setback-->close tv
-->dish-->decoder RF out-->setback-->4 way spliter-->Far TV's (spliter not needed if only 1 far tv)

Mine goes like this so I can watch VCR/DVD and CCTV camera on all tv's

-->dish-->decoder RF out-->setback-->close tv
-->CCTV-->VCR-->RF IN decoder RF out-->setback-->4 way spliter-->Far TV's (spliter not needed if only two tv's)

You are splitting 4-ways and probably doing more than 10m... He is only running 10m, without any splitters. The RF out should be able to handle that without a setback amplifier. I think it is most likely a faulty RF output.

Definitely a faulty RF-out connector on the decoder. I use the RF for my own connectivity and split it without an amplifier to 2 sets. My picture is perfect as far as I can tell.
Granted the cable to my bedroom is less than 8 meters but you've already confirmed that you have the exact same problem with a shorter cable.

Just received an email from Top-TV:
"If you do encounter any problems with any of the accessories you would need exchange the whole package at the store and get a new one.
We currently do not sell the accessories seperately."

To do for Saturday: I'll be putting the decoder, (a slightly dog chewed) remote and cables in the original packaging and head on down to House & Home...

I got mine also swapped, activation was bit of a problem. I think I had a couple of incompetent sales people, but that was resolved.

My new decoder is a bit better, but not much :-( What's the odds of 2 duds in a row??
