Went to my local Pep Stores during lunch and asked the store manager whether they had the decoders. Said they were ready for Saturday.

I then asked whether I could buy one now & after a quick call they said yes. Paid R499 and walked out with the box and a number to call to arrange installation. Easy as that.

So do you call to sign up? And can you get the cheapest or most expensive one and then later upgrade/downgrade?

Do you need a TV license?

You won't need a TV license as that's taken care of at the time you buy a TV & SABC haven't managed to force the payTV operators to do the SABC's dirty work for them.

No tv licence. Will call them when I'm back in the office.

I would like to take out the expensive one and try it and if the premium channels suck then I would like to downgrade for no fee.

no tv license? bwahahahahhahaahah ok. I want that in writing please....

No tv license needed when buying the damn thing. Read for a change.

I don't even know why that's even asked...you never needed it for buying any paytv in SA.

Silly question - but it does have features like EPG, 7 day in advance and reminders?

Pics \ manual screenshots PLZ!!!!!

Also - any details about the dish and installation?

They say it's a posibility of upgrading the box to a DVR feature via Firmware Update ... you would then have to get an external hardrive I guess?
