I'm currently in the process of writing a new torrent client. What are some of your pet peeves with existing clients, and what features would you like to see in a new one?

Here's a sneak peek of the UI. I've only been working on it for about a week or two so far.

I am mostly doing it for my use, but if there's enough interest, I'll eventually release it once it's feature-rich.

WHy? Qbittorrent or Transmission already exists.
I guess you missed the entire point that I'm doing it for myself?

Also I am writing the entire torrent protocol from scratch, not using any existing libraries like libtorrent. So it's an academic exercise as well.

Never used QBittorrent, but I don't like transmission.

One that works trough rain, And P2P blocked clients. Using google Machine learning hardware to illegally download torrents at work is a bit on the too much hassle side.

All I can say is to go and see what QBittorrent does right and then adopt that to your liking. Transmission is basic, though I have never used it. The only client I use is QBittorrent, so I can't speak to the others. The main advantage is its having a built-in search.

I have already built in search on my list, building in block list/peer guardian file support.
