Torrent performance via MWEB recently

Interesting that you pointing finger at me, I was also very happy first 2 months, was getting great torrent speeds doing the night time window. and THEN they seem to decide, ok, hook line an sinker, we got the client, lets institute the shape rules.

Lets see what you will be saying if that same "great" line speed that you paying suddenly changes to under 20Kbps.

and I will think of myself, as long as I'm paying for a service, which they not providing, when you willing to pay for my service, then you can tell me to stop complaining.

I am changing.

I'm with mweb ever since they started the uncapped thing and although I had my ups and downs right now I'm happy with them as my isp. I get the speeds i need. Also make sure you not getting throttled cause it sure looks like that. Post a speedtest results and maybe even the quality of your line has degraded. Get a free afrishot 1gb account to see if it's bot maybe your line that's the fault.

Please don't come with this "no it's not my line" Unless you can prove it's not your line then I will get what you saying. I will torrent ight now and get 300-400KB/s+ constant.

I`m with Nelis on this , torrents ( my experience ) very seldom dips below 400KB. I`m mostly doing it later at night though.

Don't these various versions of Linux have their own websites where you can download it? Why use torrents? :erm:

Hi all

Just as an FYI.
If you cancel on the 1st working day of the month then the account will be scheduled to cancel at the end of the same month.

I requested my cancellation within the first few days of a new month. I cited problems on your network/product as reasons for cancellation. I still had to pay for that month and the next one. This effectively meant that I had to pay for 2 packages at the same time, since Mweb's uncapped was borderline useless.

Can you see how this would leave a severely BITTER taste? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....

Which we are not happy with,

it's the 19th today, you should able to stop all services end of this month, it does not take anyone a month to process and stop a debit order.

there is NO justification other than holding a departing client hostage for 30 days.

If it was in the Ts&Cs that you agreed to when signing up with them then you can be as unhappy as you want - but you will have to abide by what you agreed to.

And if you didn't read the Ts&Cs then that is your no one's fault but your own.

Hi georgelza.

Torrents are given the lowest priority and speeds are not guaranteed.
I would suggest that you set the torrents for later in the evening.

I understand that torrents is important to you.
It is a business decision that has been taken to give torrents the lowest priority on our network.

Yes , the latest is the 1st working day o the month.

These responses are hilarious! Gone is the MWeb of the "Free the Web" days.

Tell me...is holding your clients hostage for a month also a "business decision that has been taken" because, much like torrents, customers are given the lowest priority on your network? It takes 5 business days to cancel a recurring debit order, so there really is no valid excuse for this. It's clear the aim is to trick as many customers into forking over another month's subscription as possible, or hoping that making the process of ditching MWeb as difficult as possible will persuade people not to even bother.

It doesn't matter whether this is in the T&C's or not. Its about the fact that its hostile towards the consumer and a silly business practice. Its listed as one of the many reasons unhappy clients will not go back to this company, as its a final cherry on a ****ty cake.

Why is it that they can give you pro-rata discount when you sign up, but can't apply the same discount to products from which you are unsubscribing?

Do you remember the exact date that you submitted your cancellation? If not, please PM me the email address you signed up with so that I can check. If it wasn't the very first business day (Mon-Fri, exclude public holidays) of that specific month, a calendar month notice period would have applied.

To what end? Surely your accounts dept will not be able to rectify issues that happened years ago? And what records will there be of this incident? If something could be done, it would have been done yonks ago.

What I would prefer is if you can tell the people responsible for these silly T&C's, that they should stick that particular part of the T&C, right up where the sun don't shine.

Some people might consider it petty to hold a grudge this long... But the amount of heartache and difficulty caused by your inconsideration is not something that will be forgotten by me. The price of a 4mbit uncapped account might be small change to most people, but for somebody that worked on a hairline budget at that time, it was a lot of money.

Torrents re not the only thing I download.

Other downloads will fly, start a torrent and it starts off, climbs to line speed, and then 1-2min in takes a dive. to under 20-40Kb.

All while other downloads like a iTunes app upgrade will be flying.

I'm not here to justify my decision, I'm here to share what I found, and interesting others have also said they experiencing the same, if you are not, lucky you,

G

Hi georgelza

Torrents are lower down on our protocol priority list during day time, at night time there's plenty spare capacity on the network and torrents are performing really well later at night.

I would like to look into this for you to see exactly what transpired and if there's anything I can do to set it right.
A lot has changed in the last 2 years and we should still have everything on record.
Please PM me your account info so I can check it and address it.
