Torrents

What client are you using?
and your isp, If its iBurst then make sure you have good signal and all the lights are on.;)

Are you connected to the internet from your pc, or through another one? If you are connecting with a server pc and ICS of some sort forward your torrent port to your pc. Make sure your port is open in the anti virus proggies you might have and pick a random port above 50000.

slightly off-topic:
a possibly useful thing that I've discovered - using certain DC++ clients - they have an ability to mix in 'garbage data' in outgoing and incoming connections, to help fool ISP's who are identifying and throttling p2p connections.
Any programmer geeks with the skillz, perhaps needs to look at how to do this with torrents as well..

Why for the love of goodness do ALL ISP's in SA find it so bloody necessary to screw with our torrents?!?!?! I just switched from not having any torrents with iBurst last month to get DSL and now this month my torrents are crawling. Why must we always get shafted uo the A$$ here in SA by these companies. Whats the bloody point?!?! I am starting to beleive there is no such thing as good internet in SA, none!

All I want is: If I'm paying for x number of gigs - to be able to use up those gigs (and buy more if I want) without any rubbish stories to stop me. I'm sure this is the view of most people. You're paying for x gigs, you want it without restrictions, and its a reasonable expectation to have - seeing as you're paying for it.
*nudges lawyers on forum*
Isn't it time that a legal case was made at Telkom to provide full access to the quantity of data one's paying for?

I have to say that since Monday my torrents never really go over 20k even if there's hundreds of seeds. The average seems to be 6k now. It was always pushing 50k before. And I just got my 30g account :(

That's just stupid...so internet traffic gets monitored and slowed because of people that's not using the highway? Am I getting this right?

I pay for bandwidth, and even though I've got "broadband", I still pay for it AND I'm getting capped if I reach my limit...I NEVER REACH MY LIMIT COZ MY FRIGGIN DOWNLOADS ARE AT LIKE 5kb/s. That's why I don't really bother with torrents now...also what pissed me off is that I download at maybe 5-10kb/s, but my uploads is smiling at 15-30kb/s

So I reckon if there's gonna be a cap, and we pay per gig, then I want FULL speed until I reach my cap limit!!! Isn't this what I'm paying for in the first place?
