Not to troll unnecessarily, but from the questions and answers I've seen on various threads where people ask for advice on TVs, that is clearly not the case. Maybe a permanent sticky on the subject should be made for the page?

Looking at a Panasonic Viera 50" 3D plasma at Hirch Hillfox (back of the store - in the Sony stand) at a cost of R49,999.00.

Model is 6500 and its got ... Image retention/burn in. Difficult to pin point - but just wonder if anyone near the store can come verify for me?

Maybe just point it out that - in 2011 - it exists?

PS Showed my parents and they're put of plasma ...

PPS They want LED, the want 46" and they want FullHD. They may be older - but they would also like to have the best

?! Sorry, I don't understand?
 
A large part of our argument was the new plasma that have image retention - but here's an extremly expensive, high end Viera with image retention.

The second part is a challenge for someone near Hillfox / Clearwater to go SEE for themselves.

Earlier in this post plasma was recommended - but the minute IR was seen on a brand new plasma, we went back to LED
 
On topic - he went for neither brand.

He was persuaded to get a LG Infinia 47" LED and LG Soundbar (which is pretty cool actually)

Ah, okay. I've noted that here you get avid supporters of both technologies. I have a friend with a plasma and he won't even look at LCD, says it's too bright. I've only ever owned LCDs, and although it took a bit of getting used to in the beginning, after quite a bit of tweaking I'm quite happy now.
