Initially thought to be a robbery, John’s sister Verina Mansour informed the Sun her brother didn’t even own a cellphone. “He had some money on him at the time of the incident, but all they took was his jacket, which they threw down a few metres away from where they stabbed him. They didn’t even take his money.”

According to Verina, seven men were walking behind John. As he passed Johan Mostert’s house at number 82, electricians working on Johan’s electric gate heard a scuffle break out.

“John was stabbed twice in the back,” said Verina. “He ran back to Johan’s house and was still coherent enough to give them his brother Carl’s phone number.”

Carl rushed John to Kingsway Hospital, but as he had no medical aid, he had to be transported to Prince Mshiyeni Hospital. “One of his main arteries in his back was punctured and he lost so much blood he died at about 5.30pm on Sunday night.”

John moved to Toti from Johannesburg at the age of 10 and attended Port Shepstone High School. “He never had a worry in his life,” said Verina. “He was a free-spirited and gentle man, with a loud laugh, but a quiet personality.”

The family intends to build a memorial garden in remembrance of John, their father Beck and four other family members who were all victims of crime.

They have offered a R5,000 reward leading to the conviction of the murderer. Contact WO Jwara on 031-913-1329.

Happened a short distance from my bally's house along Entombeni Drive. Stabbed him for fun basically.

Aye, happens often sadly. If you get seriously injured around Toti and not on medical you can expect a long and possibly your last drive through to Durban.
 
They are supposed to stabilise the patient before moving.. Medical Aid or not...


This needs to be investigated.
 
That hospital has gone to the dogs TBH. A friend of my cousin broke his ankle one night, went to the hospital and got an x-ray the nurses told me there were no bones broken and sent him home. The next day he woke up and found the leg was swollen went back to the doctor. The doctor told him if he came any later they would have to amputate this leg due some circulation poor circulation due to his ankle being shattered

All State owned hospitals, in fact all hospitals have gone to the dogs through the forcefulness and prescriptions of the cANCer.

I was under the impression that hospitals are obligated to at least try stabilise you (stop you from dying) before sending you to a public hospital. Sad to know that I was wrong.

Yah no they just drive straight past Kingsway now. Can't argue with them because NOOO THETS NAWT THA WEIGH WEE DOO THEENGS, stupid ****s.

They are not even obligated, as far as I know they are legally required to do so...

but like has been stated, its probably not even worth it because you're just wasting your time at a place like Kingsway.
 
This kinda of what happens when you let corruption get out of control, it spread war and wide in to every bit of society, money that would of improved conditions, not there. Add that with a bit of incompetent management, and you get a recipe for disaster. That disaster is kind of what we're stuck with now.
 
Also along Entombeni drive. This time it was the guy who helped John that became the next target. I'll stay my a$$ away from this road.

Young Trisston Mostert was enjoying the start of his July school holidays watching TV at his Entombeni Drive home at about 10am when two men walked into the house and held a gun to his head.

“Our domestic worker was working in the kitchen,” said Trisston’s father, Johan. “The security gate was closed, but not locked. The men took them into my bedroom and demanded the location of the safe and guns.”

Trisston described the one man as wearing a Bob Marley beanie and sporting a long goatie.

The men told the boy and the domestic worker to hide under the bed. As the bed was too close to the floor to accommodate them, they picked up the bed and made the two lay down, before covering them with the bed and a duvet.

“One of them was speaking Zulu and my son couldn’t understand him,” said Johan. “He told the maid to translate for Trisston that he better get under the bed or else he was going to kill him.”

The men made off with Trisston’s PS3 console and games, about R50,000 worth of Johan’s mother’s jewellery, a camera and several bottles of wine.

Johan helped assist John Hadfield after he was stabbed twice while walking along Entombeni Drive on Friday evening. He subsequently died in Prince Mshiyeni Hospital.

“Crime in Entombeni Drive is out of control. This is the fourth house robbery we have had since March, including two in four days,” said Johan. "Trisston came to work with me after the robbery and he won’t let me out of his sight.”

A relative was in Entabeni hospital in Durban recently - I was told that too has gone to the dogs

A amount of people who died for going for "minor" operations in Kingsway is shocking. Though I must point out I live in a small town and my definition of shocking might be a bit skewed

I was at casualty 2 weeks ago with my wife at Crompton in Pinetown and I witnessed exactly what happens to non-medical aid patients.

The Doctor on call was drilling the ambulance crew through the roof that they brought an "un-stabalized" patient to the hospital. The Paramedic was arguing with the Doc, that he himself gave the go ahead over the phone to admit the patient. The Doc agreed that he did, but was informed the patient was stable, otherwise he would have never agreed.

So essentially from my deduction, Crompton will not accept unstable patients?!? Huh??
