i am looking to get a new pda and have pretty much settled on these 2.(the htc firestone is too far away to wait)
i am leaning towards the htc. Vodacom has a good deal costing R369 for 24 months- what do u guys think

I was a big fan of the Xperia till I learned that the build quality sucks. Seems the case cracks very easily, especially around the stylus holster. The paint on the buttons also start to fade within weeks. A mate of mine has one where the case cracked. Can google it, it's very common :(

I just got myself a Touch Pro 2 and have never been happier. HTC FTW!
Perhaps look at a Touch Pro or Touch Pro 2. I found the lack of a hardware keyboard to be quite painful on my P3400. Some people seem to manage ok, but I prefer a hardware keyboard.

All round, this is my 3rd HTC device and they've never let me down

If you are a HTC fan, I would wait a month or 2 for the HTC Hero with the new Andoid GUI. Read the reviews and it seems to be a winner.

thanks guys but i am a winmo fan...the hd looks realy cool .also i odnt need a hard keyboard.
is the GPS good or does it lag on the HD

Hiya, replied to your PM S'man...

Anycase, I've had both, and after going back to Palm OS, both doth sucketh... But then again, I am a Palm fanboi...

The X2 and HD2 are coming out soon(ish), as well as 3rd gen Android devices... End of 2009 and 2010 is going to be gadget heaven!

Still saving my money for a Pre tho...

I don't see much difference between the firestone and the HD. (the firestone even has a smaller screen).
The 8MP camera won't make much of a difference in my life.
what else could be better on the HD2 - oh and the pricew I'm sure will be around R11 000

i have a HD, and while I'm happy with it coming from a TyTN2 the adjustment from hardware keyboard to on screen keyboard is hard. I'm upgrading a second contract this week and plan to get the pro2. Then I'll have the besto of both worlds, but I have a feeling I may settle with the pro2 for good.

I can't say anything about the xperia, not having used it but if you can live without a hardware keyboard go for the HD you won't look back.
