I was looking at importing from Amazon or even waiting for Black Friday but I figured it's a decent laptop at a good price considering delivery etc etc.

I hope the HP direct warranty will apply @ToxicBunny

So long as the model comes with an HP Warranty you should be good.

I would just get in contact with HP directly and confirm that.
